Following your target to the next waypoint

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Following your target to the next waypoint

In some missions, I'm supposed to kill a person. But after I engage him, he runs away to the next waypoint so I have to chase him there, and once I'm there his shields are recharged and he has reinforcements.

Is there any way to stop him from running away so that I don't have to deal with the reinforcements? Like, would a cruise disruptor work?

you could try a CD, or just kill him before he runs away (focus all your power on him)

Orillion: So trent, will you help us with the mission?

Trent: Sure, as long as I'm not shot at, knocked out, held at gunpoint, electrocuted, skewered alive by giant alien shapeshifters, have to dive out windows, or fight off spindly nomad incubi.

Yes, you can kill them before they run (you can even kill them while they run, before they get out of range). Try concentrating on the target...though if you can't handle a few other guys too, you should practice more, it only get worse, lol.

Yes it is always fun having a 200k+ mission where the target runs almost instantly. Fire off a CD and it is easy money as the target will not pull any evasive manuvers at all. Just make sure if you don't want to engage his buddies to get out of there quickly as they will fly towards you.

I just had my fastest 200k mission ever, where I was supposed to kill someone.

My current ship has 4 Tizona del Cid, 2 Nomad Energy Cannons, and 1 Sunslayer Torpedo Launcher. I just charged at the boss, fired my guns to take down his shield, and hit him with a torpedo. Boom. Mission accomplished.

I guess if I can hit accurately with torpedoes, I don't need CDs.

I'm going to try an all-gun Sabre later, with a CD later, though.

For the assinate missions, it's easy to destroy the target, just a bit harder to get away from his buddies.

I've found that the AI seems to get confused by the "tail slide" retreating manuever. I face where I want to go, hold TAB to engage thrusters until I'm up to speed 200, then press "z" (engine kill). Then I turn my ship around so that I'm facing them (WITHOUT touching "TAB" or any speed changing controls, or else engine kill will deactivate). Now I'll be facing them, but drifting backwards at speed 200. At this point, they get confused on how to chase me and eventually I'll be outside of sensor range, at which point I can turn my ship back forward and engage cruise engines.
