The Kusari system, blood Dragons, the arch etc,

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

The Kusari system, blood Dragons, the arch etc,

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I'm stuck, in a Hawk light fighter - Have to attack the station with the arch, first by destroying the shield generators. I fly up through the cylindrical channel in the centre of the station and always get blown away by combinations of flak / missiles and also turrret fire from the moored battleship. Is there any kind of 'set piece' or procedure for this misson ? Any advice would be grately .... Perhaps I should start all over again and try to get a better ship !

well, having a heavy fighter does help as it can mount torpdoes BUT light fighters are better at dodging.

Anyway, fly up the cylindrical thing and target ONE shield generator. Blow this away and dive back down into the cylinder. Keep repeating and when all are blown away, hit cruise spped and fly to the top of the arch and dock, Sorted!

Using this tactic, you can beat this level esily, I did it in a Defender

cylinder thing in the rock??? never used that... also not with the defender and drake, i did just stay on the otherside off the arch, so the battleship can't shoot at you...

and dock as fast as possible...

Passing through the cylindrical thing gives you some radiation damage. Just fly straight at the arch, and hide on top of the battleship every time your shields get low (which obviously only works if there's a battleship there to hide on top of).

I destroyed the Battleship Musashi with torpedoes and missiles flying a Crusader and using the cylinder approach. Unfortunately, there is no reward for doing this as it doesn't count in the score.

With a Hawk, the best thing to do is use the arch to block fire from the battleship while you take out the shield generators.

every time i fly through the cylinder, i get killed by radiation. you mean the one in the asteroid, right? if it is, i get hit by a lot of radiation, even in a dragon.

me neither, I just fly up, kill the battleship, destroy the shield, position myself before MY shield is destroyed utterly and the rest of the mission is straight forward.

If you're still in a LF, try investing a little $$ in homing mines. Park your ship near the generators so that the sheilds will block the fire from the battleship. Start dropping mines like crazy. It won't do as much damage as a torpedo launcher, but it will save you a great deal of time. Don't fly through the cylinder. To me, anything in space with giant lightning bolts jumping across it is bad news, especially in a Hawk.

Thank you all very much ! It seems opinion is generally divided between flying up through the channel; aiming for the shields then down again; or flying directly at it. One of the problems might be my weapons rig: tadpole mines; moonstalker missiles; x 3 Tanto cannons and advanced countermeasures. Might be a problem because I end up using a lot of the missiles / mines / counter measures and especially shield batteries and also nano bots in the skirmish with the patrol, prior to attacking the station, despite trying various tactics like avoiding combat, hiding by largish asteriods etc. As a result my stores are quite depleted during the arch attack; so far I've been able to take out 2 generators before I'm out of shield batteries / nano's, and then fall victim to defensive flak and missiles. If I can't do it, I'll just start again, I don't mind; this game's much better than I thought it would be, and it was only after finding this site that I realised that you can get a good ship / hardware quite early in the game by trading and exploring etc. Anyway thanks again ! By the way how easy or difficult is it to download MODs ? Is it worth doing ? Does it take a long time ? Does your system get messed up if you do it wrong ? I have narrow band and am based in Taiwan ( a Brit Ex-Pat).

Its quite easy to d/l mods, its only worth doing once you've finished the original game and want to extened the playability by adding something new or you just d/l the upgrading mods like the sounds and effect packages, the time it takes depends on the mod, you really can't stuff up much if you use the mod manager, avaliable on this site. How's Taiwan this time of year?

thanks, first could you give a rough idea of how far I am from finishing the original game - in terms of levels, how many more to go ? Taiwan, the south; where I am is quite cold, which is unusual, and as boring as hell which is the norm. On the other hand some of the good things about his place are: good computers are cheap, and jobs are quite well paid, and it's also good if you're young and single.

I played that mission with a hawk. Having 2 missile launchers/1 mine/Pyros guns, it wasn't that hard. I just go up close and personal with the shield generator and fired everything. Sure u get hit a couple of times but when down right u'll have hardly any trouble but remembering to press the firing keys.

You will find the story line becomes fast-paced after the Tohoku mission. If you accept the next job that Lord Hakkera offers, it's all continuous until the end of the story. There are walk-throughs available (and a book) but it's more fun if you let the plot surprise you the first time you do it.
