Light Fighter campain problems

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Light Fighter campain problems

Ok, I need help here.
I'm replaying the campain with a Patriot and need to destroy some weapons platforms (Capture Tekagi's Transport) But when I get the first platform the game says I failed to destroy the platforms.
I have two possible explanations for this:

1 - There is a time limit.
2 - I need to destroy one of them, or both before the strike team takes over Tekagi's Transport, wich happenes after two of the enemy fighters are shot down.

In any of the two cases it's all about taking them down within a certain amount of time, wich could mean I need heavier weapons.

Now my for my question:

I know some of you have finished the game in a Light Fighter, Starflier even, can any of you confirm any of this? And do you have any tips for me?

Tnx in advance from an experianced, but slightly frustrated Freelancer

Never ran into that. I have tried the campaign in every ship in the game. Got as far as Tekagi's fortress in a Patriot. I completed capturing the transport successfully. Lowest level ship I completed the whole thing in was a Dagger.

Both platforms run on timers. (The "ship destroyed" comms are timed events; they don't actually depend on ships taking damage and being destroyed.) The trick is to go first for the platform closer to you as you approach the shipyard. The two platforms run on different timers; the nearer one starts and expires significantly sooner.

As for weapons, Xeno Adv.Scorpion guns are the highest damage-dealing and most energy-efficient guns you can put on a Patriot. Definitely get these if you're trying to beat the entire campaign in the ship. Before accepting the Transport mission, you can go to Colorado system and kill Xenos until they drop some of these guns, or kill Navy ships until the Xenos like you enough to let you land on a base and buy the guns.

Will try, but as I said, when I destroy the first platform (the one closest to you), I loose.

Anyway, tnx for the help and I'll try it

Get a good mine. Then you can bomb the platforms to death- I'd suggest making an early pilgrimage to Omicron Alpha and grabbing a few rippers off the wrecks- those should cure your platform problem in no time. Just make sure you don't use too many, so you have some left for the Nomad Lair mission...

I had this exact problem, and it only happened if I tried to take out some ships before I tried it on the Weapons Platforms. Don't attempt to attack the ships, just concentrate your fire on the Weapons Platforms! Don't even select an enemy ship till you've taken out the weapon platforms!

Gonna try it soon.

Don't use Slingshots unless you have bad energy efficiency. They do insignificantly more damage and rarely hit moving targets.

Missile+turbo=boom.

The faster you go, the more damage it does, and the faster the missile goes, the less time an enemy has to evade it.

Wow, I didn't know that. Probably 'cause I never use missiles. Oh well, learn something new everyday.

I think that Nomads should be banned to promote use of more energy efficient weapons and missiles, and to make codenames worthwhile.
