I still want to know what happened with that trade lane disaster in the Texas system... plus, if Canada had a sleeper ship and it was destroyed, why is there a Battleship Yukon? I think it's more likely Canada's contingent was on board the Liberty. That was some other sleeper ship that got destroyed on takeoff.

hate to be such a wet blanket, but that's not a picture of Ft. Bush. Ft. Bush just has the one ring, not the long cylindar. I think that's a picture of some Kusari base, I want to say in Shinkoku. @parker -. The Texas Incident of 500 AS was where some jump gate machinery blew up upon test. There's three debris fields, a pequena and grande negra, which are both radiation clouds in the Texas system. scanners dont function, and there's severe radiation, along with two wrecks. Try going through them in a starlfier before a kill all ships mission !

Cardamine was originally discovered by the criminal organization the Outcasts, who crawled from the crippled sleeper ship Hispania and made planetfall on a planet they later named Malta. Malta was a harsh planet, with grey skies, acidic oceans and vast plains covered in a species of tall, thin orange grass, which they later learned could be rendered into a narcotic substance that they later called Cardamine. The Outcasts used the drug socially and privately because of the euphoric sense it gave them, and later became addicted to it. They did not however, completely understand the extent to which their bodies were addicted to the drug.
Once the Outcasts found their feet they started to explore the surrounding areas from Malta, but surprisingly became ill. Then upon return to Malta, they miraculously recovered. Doctors were baffled, and it wasn’t until a startling discovery was made that the reason was unveiled.
A doctor performed a routine test on a critically ill pilot and made a remarkable find. The DNA of the pilot had been changed substantially, in some parts so that it was identical to that of the grass from which Cardamine was rendered. Truly separate from all other human beings, the Outcasts began exploration of the surrounding systems.
When they encountered the other Houses, a new strategy emerged. They decided that they would deliver the poison that would rot the other Houses from the inside out and grow rich from their trade. However, the Outcasts eventually lost landing rights on the capitol planets, but forged rough alliances with criminals from the Houses. They formed alliances with groups like the Liberty Rogues and the Lane Hackers of Liberty, and also the Golden Chrysanthemums of Kusari. The Lane Hackers traded information on food shipments and cargo supplies for the drug, and the Liberty Rogues offered them shelter within Liberty space in exchange for the drug. Both these groups then sold the drug onto groups such as the Junkers of Liberty, Bretonia, and Rheinland, which have landing rights on the major planets in the three previously mentioned Houses. The Golden Chrysanthemums sold it onto the Hogosha, a quasi-legal crime syndicate whose objective is to “free the Kusari people from the strife of unfair government”, that has landing rights on the major planets of Kusari.
Hence the drug eventually infected the four major houses, and is commonly used by the rich and powerful members of governments the four major Houses, and is also available in the many underground clubs in Kusari, Rheinland, Liberty, and Bretonia.
Now the Outcasts major enemy is Cryer Pharmaceuticals, which has for decades been trying to create a synthetic version of the drug which would be prescribed within the pharmacies of the major Houses for all the people already addicted to the drug. The Atka Research Station in Sigma-17 has been their biggest thorn-in-the-flesh because that is where the major synthetic Cardamine research has been ongoing for decades. However, there are jump holes to the systems bordering Omicron Alpha, the system containing Malta, and it has been relatively easy for the Outcasts to stage attacks on the Atka Research Station, where frequent tests are carried out on live Outcasts captured by the Bounty Hunters Guild.

I got this rumor about the texas incident from a zoner at the Ames research station in Kepler. It goes something like this.
Liberty couldn't bypass the kepler system using jumpgates, not with all the dark matter clouds in the system, a lesson they learned the hard way during the texas incident.
This indicates to me at least, the Texas incident was caused when they tried to have a jumpgate path traverse the Dark matter clouds in the kepler system, which probably overloaded the jumpgate or something, causing it to blow up. Also, the jumphole to California was formed by the texas incident according to another rumor I hear on Houston.
