Mod, cheat .... same thing get real advice from the good people of TLR .. search the forum many wise people have worked hard to create .. mod huh, I beat it second time unmodded and I'm a cr*p pilot I just followed advice.

And if you need to mod the race just to win...well...thats just sad..

it doesnt matter very much what you fly to be honest some may even argue that a lf is too "twitchy" to be the best option
as with so much in this game its what you are comfortable with thats the best option

There's only one playable ship that I can thing of offhand that would be impossible to do the race in, and that's the Humpback- and you can't get that during the campaign without modding.

In other words, the race is beatable in ANY ship you can fly at that point, freighters included. Now maybe beating the race every time in a clyde makes me a dumbass, but I think you're overstating the "need' for a fighter.

Turn your graphics settings down and you DEFINITELY won't need a fighter.

i have completed the damn race in an every damn ship even tryd it with an gunboat thats fun

I've never lost and I never been behind at any stage in the race. The second time I did it I was about 3 hoops ahead near the end and the cruise disrupter missed. That's with no modding etc. I can't see what the fuss is, just treat it as what it is - a race track, take the bends like a racing driver, don't always head straight for the next hoop, go for the efficient curve.

1. get an fighter this is where the smart kids are being separated from the Dumb ones

2. activate your cruise engines

3. 1 and 2 dont work mod the cruise activation time and be an winner before dumbass ever started

Wow, I'd love to see someone do the race with a Bship, if it would fit through the rings.

It would, but just barely- Bships(the Liberty ones anyway) are just a little thinner than the diameter of the rings. But you could never take them at cruise velocity, as the Bships take too long to turn, and are far too long to go from ring to ring on the last half of the course.
