How to avoid cruise disruptors

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

How to avoid cruise disruptors

Perhaps im just clueless and everyone knows this, perhaps this has been discusses already, perhaps it doesn't even work (partly). Anyway here goes. How to avoid cruise disruptors. This works best with more than 1 thruster, but with one it still works pretty good. Also not for use in debri/mine/asteroid/gas pockets/fields. Somone is cruise disrupting you. You need to escape. Aim yourself in the right direction at full (normal) speed, hit engine kill, use the thruster to accelerate to near cruise speed, and coast! Cruise disruptors can't stop you, because your not crusing! Right? You can even turn around and shoot your persuers... till they get left in the dust

Disruptors move like a bullet, NOT a missile, fire Countermeasure AS SOON as you hear the warning!

Bob's method is your only option if the attackers are in your forward 180 arc, no CMs will work.
For attackers in the rear 180 arc, set your (Advanced!) CM dropper on autofire (select it).

I've never had a countermeasure actually stop a cruise disruptor. I've just assumed that they don't work for that type of projectile.

Yeah, I know Juni's not real, but she's got a nice butt anyway.

They can stop them, but I believe they(CD missiles) have a large splash radius, so if you mis-time the countermeasure you get slammed by it anyway(since countermeasures don't last all that long before evaporating, and you can't intercept it too close). It takes quite a bit of luck to get the timing right.

If you're a real pro in a fast-turning ship, you can engine kill, turn around, and blast the disrupter right out of space, but that requires fast reflexes to pull off.

I will aid them when I can...if they give me a percentage of the salvage from whatever they frag along the way. Hell, they were even so kind as to sell me a ship after one of my jobs with them, and I've been flying her ever since. But god help them if someone puts a bounty on THEIR heads, for I don't care who I hunt for, as long as their live capture(or untimely death) can get me enough credits to buy a decent sized mug of my favorite drink."- A Freelance Bounty Hunter.

Wasp = 700m/s
Hornet = 800m/s

Holy SH1T!

Dump CM's early & often, and the Adv. ones work best.

But if your speed is say 350 with NO engine running would it stop you? I really don't know...

I believe I read somewhere on these forums that if the cruise disruptor hits you while you've got engine kill on, it will actually turn your engines on and set speed to 80. I've never confirmed, though.

I heard that too. But when you are in enginekill-mode NPC's never fire CD's at you.

Activate your countermeasure launcher on the weapons menu just like any guns, now your launcher is on auto and the computer will drop as soon as a launch is detected. Manouevre a little when you hear the launch warning is all you got to do. Very few people uses this auto feature somehow, but it is effective 90+% of the time because the computer is so quick in reacting.

By the way, bind a key to togger the launcher. I use caplock personally.

hehe, I allway hit capslock when I want to use my thrusters...

I mean binding a key to ACTIVATE or DEACTIVATE the countermeasure launcher, not FIRING it. If you want to use the auto feature of it you don't want it switched on when you fire your guns or you will waste your countermeasures.
