Pirates

I just found out something rather interesting about pirates, while on a cargo run...I was hauling new shoes and lipstick to some drugged out chicks who thought they were all that. You know the drill--Luxury Goods:Roppongi Station/New Tokyo->Ainu Depot/Hokkaidu.

Started with little money (just bought my Humpie), so I bought as much luxury goods as I could afford, and then used up the change on Food Rations, just to haul something.

Then, just outside Ainu Depot, I got jumped by Blood Dragon pirates. And do you know what she wanted? Yep, that's right: THE 7 TONS OF FOOD RATIONS! I had over 50 tons of Luxury goods, and she wanted food? Here you go, honey, and have a nice day somewhere else...

So I got curious. I loaded out my ship with 1 ton of everything safe (didn't take Cardamine) I could get my hands on at Ainu & Rappongi, and flew the route. The only place pirates attacked, was right there at Ainu Depot by Blood Dragons, and they have very special needs:

* Food Rations
* Light Arms
* Consumer Goods
* Pharmaceuticals

So I stopped carrying just those items, and sure enough, no more pirates!

My guess? That band of washed up Sons of the Great Samuri Whoever are just there gathering basic supplies to fuel their Great Comeback Someday.

Anyone else know of specific bands of pirates, where they are, and what they want?

ill keep an eye out for what they ask for in the future ,now you bring it up

Bloody Good Point!!

I have noticed this too. Altho I didnt pay attention to it until i read what you said about it. I have noticed tho that carrying cardamine is bad to do becaue EVERYBODY WANTS IT. And the pirates seem to cut you to peices in large hordes when you have it. But aside from that, I got asked by a Xeno to drop the food. Told em to @%$& off and let em have it with all turrets. I know its just cheap food, but hell, its my food and no one else can have it.

I just ignore the pirates and kick in cruise engines or enter a trade lane/jump gate. By the time they figure out that you've told them to go to h*ll, you're too far away for them to mess with you.

Ya know, I never made that connection. The best price for Luxury Consumer Goods is from the women of the Golden Chrysanthemums. I wonder if that was intentional, or just a coincidence?

Yeah! Seems like every time I get there, one of em is all moaning about women's rights, the evil men in the government, and how they're gonna set things right by putting women in control, etc.

Between snorts off her Cardamine inhaler.

I just say "You betcha, ma'am, more power to ya--by the way, would you be interested in buying a gold-plated cuticle pusher? It's the latest thing for all official Golden Chrysanthemum members..."

PS(just to be on topic): Been getting jumped at Roppongi Station by Hogosha pirates, and they want Luxury Goods and H-Fuel. I can get to the trade lane before it matters, though.

Where is Ainu in Hokkaido, anyway? I never bothered to find it.

As soon as you pop into Hokkaido, fly 30K WNW, into C6. You have to be pretty close before it will pop up on the sensors, because of the Shiden Cloud.

Hauling Luxury Goods from Roppongi Station nets $630/hold for one jump. If your ok with Blood Dragons and Golden Chrysanthemums, it's about $150K profit per run in a humpie.

A longer stretch is from Colorado to Ainu Station, but you'll also have to deal with Xenos, Liberty Rogues, and Lane Hackers along the way. Luxury Goods from Planet Denver->Ainu Depot nets $1207/hold in four jumps.

BTW, DON'T befriend the Xenos! I spent 125k trying it, just to see what would happen. The police, most freighter convoys, and the Bounty Hunters all started attacking, not to mention a bunch of the bases became hostile. AND they were not red in my relationships list! The relationship list doesn't seem to be accurate, in my opinion.

Alright, thanks. I heard all this talk about Ainu -> Roppongi... Going to have to see for myself.

I prefer killing the pirate! Then they don't bother anyone anymore! *grins*
