The patch is the problem - with that net worth you should be level 36.

It seems that there is no reliable cure that does not involve removing the patch, and the easiest way is to reinstall Freelancer without the patch (and warn all your friends against the patch, except for the guy who runs the server ). If you have characters on MP servers in the Internet that you do not want to lose then you should print out your multiplayer id (there is a shortcut for that in the start menu) so that you can enter it during the new installation.

There are also ways to find & backup the savegames but it is probably best to simply throw the lot away. You can get to level 38 from scratch in just one or two afternoons, but there is really no reason to hurry. Have a look at the thread Competition: FLDQ - Freelancer Done Quick. The first post there contains a collection of links to threads with plenty of suggestions how you can build an SP character quickly and how you can have lots of fun on the way. In particular, make sure that you do things different this time - use different ships, get friendly with the pirates, decline before you accept Juni missions if you have not done that yet, read the news and listen to rumours during the campaign, things like that.

maybe its time for a sticky about the patch as it seems to cause so many people problems, there seems to be a poor guy everyday with a problem relating to the patch

Just print out your multiplayer ID, uninstall freelancer (without killing saved games/chars), reinstall, and play. No 1.1 patch.
