Dragon

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Dragon

This isn't a spoiler, but it does belong in here, what is the best loadout for the Dragon? And yes, I did a forum search first, but nothing came up that was useful...

I don't understand these kind of questions. What do you meen "best loadout".
That is to me the highest level possible mounted to your ship.
But that is so personnal: Some like a missile launcher, some like two, some dont like missilelaunchers, some like weapons with the same speeds, some don't care, some like as much different types of guns possible, some don't.
You see, you get dozens of answers, wich are all different, but it's up to you to make the choice.

Anyway, since you asked, I don't have types, but I'll tell you what my conditions for a weaponloadout are:

1. Weapons must have the same speed or allmost the same speed. That is because you can aim better with weapons with the same speed.
1. One shieldkiller gun to take down any shield quickly. I used to go for all types of guns, but they never have the same speed.
3. If there are enough gun/missile mounts available, maybe I mount a missilelauncher. I certainly will in the campaign, because you need to destroy all kinds of stuff.
4. the best Thruster/countermeasure/mine
5. The best shield I can get my hands on, no matter wich type. But I usually cary aroud all three types, in case I happen to know who I need to defend mysellf from.

This goes for all ships for me.

Shine my shoes! I want to see myself when I look down on you.

If you want a shield buster in your loadout then there is little choice since there is only one suitable pulse gun - the Corsair Borroco (600 m/s). The best hull guns that match this are, of course, the Outcast particle guns. Contrast this to the Anubis that can use the class 6 Debilitator Turret (700 m/s) which enables it to use the Xenos particle guns instead. Same damage etc. as the Outcast Pyros kit but the 700 m/s speed instead of 600 m/s makes a noticable difference in combat.

For fighting high-level ships (with class 8/9/10 shields) I'd go for a loadout with 2 x Borroco and 4 x Pyros Type 3. The two Borrocos are necessary in order to beat down the shield quickly, to create more torpedoing opportunities. Against lower level ships - this includes the SP campaign - one Borroco is enough and you could use the other class 5 slot for a hull gun (Pyros Type 2) outside the campaign and a Catapult launcher during the campaign. For missions against unshielded enemies (12 and 13) replace the Borroco with a hull gun or a second missile launcher.

Using only one pulse gun has the advantage that you do not have to deal with weapon groups - simply toggle the Borroco on and off as needed via the caps lock key.

Starkiller torpedos are a must - they are the reason why you buy a HF instead of an LF in the first place - and for mines I'd choose Seekers except for some campaign missions where you have to destroy plenty of big targets and where the Drillers can be helpful.

just what they say, their r many combo's possible...

i like to fly a drake as well...

sometimes i have 4 types of guns on my fighter, a borroco, a sunfury, a pyros and a agellito gun (all speed is 600 m/s and 600m range)... for mines, the best there is (if i can mount a torp, i take the sunslayer, with some shield busters...)

Is there a station/planet/battleship that sells 2x Borroco and 4x Pyros Type 3?

I don't know where to get them, but I do have a nice link to download an excel file that allows you to configure a nice weaponloadout.

The Borrocos are sold only by the Corsairs, on all their bases:
o Cadiz Base, Omega-5
o Leon Base, Omega-41
o Planet Crete, Omicron Gamma
o Tripoli Shipyard, Omicron Gamma

The Pyros Type 2/3 guns are sold by the Outcasts, on all their bases:
o Cali, Tau-23
o Ruiz, Omicron Beta
o Planet Malta, Omicron Alpha

Note: after mission 7 the Outcasts are neutral and that is enough for the class 5 Pyros Type 2 thingies but for the class 6 guns you have to get them to 20% friendly-neutral. So you may have to buy a bribe or shoot plenty of their enemies.

The situation with the Corsairs it better: they start 65% hostile and you can get them to stop shooting by killing just a handful of Mollys, Red Hessians or Bounty Hunter depots. That is enough to buy the Borrocos ... They would even sell them to you at 100% hostile but of course then you cannot dock with their bases.

For the best results in the campaign, you want to change your loadout depending on the mission. Any mission where you attack only shielded targets (1-6 and 11) is worth loading two shield-busters if you're flying a HF or FR. Any battle where you attack only unshielded targets (Experimental Shipyard and all of missions 12 and 13) calls for no shield-busters of course.

As you progress more in the game, the Dragon and it's weapon capabilites are useless, if you are Freelancing that is. If this is for the 1st mission in Kusari, then it is good when in later missions (don't want to spoil the mission, even though this is the spoiler forum).

In Hokkaido (access from the cloud behind Planet Kyushu in the Kyushu system and the Jump Gate in New Tokyo), the Kayo Cloud. There are 3 wrecks. All of which have good weapons for use with your Dragon. 2 weapons are the Scrambler and the Sunflury. there are 2 of each. These can both be mounted on your Dragon.

i did the campaign in a defender without use of shield-busters... i use in beginning missions no missiles, before going to kusari i mounted a slingshot missile launcher and in rheinland i mounted a 2nd slingshot missile launcher...

i buyed also in rheinland a mine dropper, but for the lasteest mission i selled it to get more money for the slingshot missile and starslayer torps...

i just fit my eagle with a full set of class 9 wyms with 1 nomad gun to save energy,of course i have the advanced bridge line shield class 10 , apart from that i cant really think of the best way to suit out your ship , i remeber in the start of freelancer i liked the ripper, because they give decent fire power at a good rate with out draining you energy to much, but its upto you to get your ship to how you like it.

HarD WaR anyone?
