ripper mines?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

the wrecks in omicron alpha to the "east" of the j hole
most are empty but 3 i think have mine launchers among other things

Yes, it's the 4 'eastern-most' wrecks that contain Ripper launchers and 5 mines each - all other wrecks are duds. Still, 20 Ripper mines are enough to blow up 3 or 4 battleships during the campaign, if you help a bit with guns and torpedos.

Those mines are better saved for the shield generators at the nomad lair. Saves lots of time on the counter. Since you can't replace them until level 30, it's best to save those for something REALLY special.

Bah, the those generators explode in fear if you just look at them nastily. The Rippers should be reserved for a worthy cause, like blowing up the battleship blocking the exit out of Alaska in mission 11, before Walker can crash into it. (Haven't done this yet since I spent all my Rippers on the 4 battleships in the Sigma-13 skirmish and couldn't do it with Drillers. )

what does Walker do if you blow the battleships up before he rams them?

does the game compensate for this or does he go thru the actions and essentially ram into nothingness and still blow to pieces?

i hope he finds some way to get dead - i dont want him patronizing me for the rest of the mission. and - ugh!!! Juni just falls all over herself in front of the guy - it's sickening!!! i guess size DOES matter... (ship size)

hey Juni - look at my little dinghy!!!

can you blow up that battle ship ? i suspect not
and if you can i suspect walker will ram nothing and die as there is only one scenario ,him being a hero ,as far as i can tell
if there were variables like that in the campaign i suspect wed have more than 1 cd

I have looked into the .ini files: those two battleships (BS Texas and BS Arizona) are '10%-invulnerable' until the cutscene with Walker begins. That is, they stop taking damage when their hitpoints are down to 10%. No wonder I got nowhere with Drillers/Starkillers.

There are several other places in the campaign where things like this were done, even to stuff that you are supposed to destroy - weapon platforms during mission 1, BS Unity + cruisers during mission 4, power generators during mission 12 ...

The BS Omaha and the 3 cruisers are okay, though. Unlike many other battleships in the campaign, the Omaha is a real ship and not a mission solar.

heh, not to mention all of the characters. Orillion, Juni, King, Walker(until his little kamakaze stunt), Sinclair, Tobias, Quintaine, Ozu, Hakkera, Von Claussen...all of them are invinceable. Makes you wonder why you even need to escort them.
