No idea at the moment, atom_kid . I'm hoping that others will contribute, though. I wonder if the factions ID are actually nicknames with an "English" name corresponds to each one of them.

Post Tue Aug 05, 2003 8:52 am

Groups are defined in InitialWord.ini (Empathy.ini is also important). Have a look at the mod/editing forums - there is plenty of information about the game data. Pity that the nano/batt launchers vanished all of a sudden, though. I sort of liked them.

Nicknames, yes.

fc_ln_grp could be Liberty nomads ?
fc_kn_grp , Kusari nomads ?
fc_rn_grp , Rheinland nomads ?

Because, in the storyline, we know that nomads are secretly implanted in these sectors.

No other idea for the moment...

I edited the factions list at the beginning of this thread (see above). It should show a more complete one now.

I also found out that the "unknown" faction, i.e. fc_uk_grp is associated with
- Planet Gammu
- Planet Primus' docking ring
- Planet Gammu's docking ring

Yes ?
Good idea.
Any conclusion ?

That's about all I know about faction nicknames at the moment. If you'd like to explore more about them, try reading this, especially the one posted by strangeduck on page 1. Hope it helps.

The following tables list ships configuration, specific for each one.
See Anubis and bw_fighter (a.k.a Dagger) examples in my previous posts -- still in this thread -- on how they are incorporated into the *.fl file.

I ditched the freighters since you can carry huge amount of cargo on the fighters anyway (by editing the *.fl file).
I'd fly the light fighters for their maneuverability. On the other hand, I also prefer the very heavy fighters for the number of their weapon hardpoints.
My most favourite fighters are Anubis and the Dagger.

Additional note about ships' configuration: Perhaps the running lights can be exchanged among ships. I haven't tried this, though.

I refrain from listing all weapon and commodities. From a Weapon Reference I choose only the best I can find.

As a reminder, a mounted weapon (gun, blaster, cannon, missile) is indicated by the line
equip = <hash number or nickname>, HpWeapon0#, 1
where '#' is 1, 2, ... to the number of weapon hardpoints the ship has.
Unmounted weapon is listed as being part of the cargo, just like commodities, e.g.
cargo = <hash number or nickname>, 1, , , 0
The difference between commodities and weapon in the cargo list is their quantity; each weapon is always equal to 1 (multiple weapon of the same type is indicated by the number of repeated lines) where a commodity can be more (just like the quantity of nanobots / shield batteries).
Gun/Cannon/Blaster nickname

Below is a list of hash numbers that represent jump holes. They are members of
visit = <hash number >, 1
and
holes_visited = <hash number >
lines in the *.fl files.

If a hash number is listed in the first group of lines, then the corresponding jump hole appears in the Nav-Map.
If it's listed in the second (i.e. holes_visited ), then the Neural Net will regard it as "found".

Example:
The following two lines make Colorado jump hole appears in the New York system map and accounted for as found.
visit = 2879482760, 1
holes_visited = 2879482760
They must be listed at the proper place in the *.fl file.

It's very interesting to see all the jump holes connecting the systems together by viewing the Universe map portion of the Nav-Map.
In the *.fl file, a system will show up when there is a corresponding hash number among the
visit = <hash number >, 1
lines. Also it is taken into account in the Neural Net when there is also a line such as
sys_visited = <hash number >
with the same number.
Hash # System Hash # System

A base will show up in the Nav-Map when there is a line such as
visit = <hash number >, 31
with the hash number of the base's nickname.
The flag 31 indicates that more detailed information on that base is available in the Neural Net.
The base will also be regarded as "has been visited" when there is a line such as
base_visited = <hash number >
with the same number.

I added 6 hash numbers in the jump holes list for the Nomad Systems. I also added one hash number representing Dyson's Sphere where the Nomad City is.
Please see the appropriate tables above.

By assigning specific value for system and base , and deleting the location line, you can be at any base / station / planet of your choice in the Freelancer universe.
The value for system consists of two letters representing the house / world followed by the identifier number of the system within that house / world.
The value for base consists of the value of the system above followed by an underscore, the identifier number of the base / station / planet within the system, an underscore, and the word "Base".

For example, if you want to be on Atka Research Station, then the *.fl file should contain the following lines

system = Bw06
base = Bw06_02_Base
and no

location = <10-digit hash number >
line.
Note: You may keep the location parameter if you know exactly the correct value for it, since I haven't figured out the hash numbers for location yet.

The table below can help in determining other bases / stations / planets.
• The houses / worlds are written in CAPITAL letters followed by its two-letter identifier enclosed in parenthesis.
• A system name is also followed by its identifier number enclosed in parenthesis.
• A base / station / planet is numbered according to its identifier.
