Russia. Why is it not there?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

AAAAHHHHH plz NOT another one!!!!!!! *sigh*

ok... JJX12... friend... plz listen.
It's true the Nomads blew up everything in our solar system in the original movie...

BUT: why hasn't that become the normal movie? why would they change an entire movie when they had one finished already?

REASON: 1: it would be a too big spoiler: it would reveal the existance of the nomads and thereby ruin a lot of fun when playing the game.
2: If our solar-system would have been wiped out, then there wouldn't be room anymore for an expansion/sequel including our Solar-system and the Coalition. Why would Microsoft just throw away such a huge chance for a very cool expansion/sequel that can bring in truckloads of money??

It isn't the real Movie. They changed it and they had a reason for that. Therefore, because it is nowhere to be seen in Freelancer, it has NOT happened.

Originally, the Defenders had that same upper wing as Juni has, and it could slide in and out. That would make the Defender way cooler, but it's scrapped too. And since there isn't a trace of it to be found, it has just "never existed". Same with the movie.

Sorry for getting angry at you, but I've had a bad sleep and am not in a very good mood atm... Please accept my apologies...

By the way, it would be a great idea for Freelancer 2 to include colonies made by former coalition member states. For instance a legend according to which Coalition actually did flee the Solar System (at least in parts) and established a new colony akin to that of the Alliance states. In this case you will have all previous systems available as well as the new ones, located in a different sector (not Sirius) that were established by the Coalition states. In that case the mission of ehm.. Trent or whoever may be our hero could be establish good diplomatic relations between the Coalition and the Alliance to prevent new war conflicts. How's that?

This topic is unnecesary :s Yea Russia may be a powerfull nation but maybe som other people can say like hey were is Canada were is australia were is France etc. They had to pick some nations they couldn't give every country in the world a own system!

If the nomads didn't wipe them out, they would be incredibly more powerfull compared to the alliance.

Just think, they had 800 more years to think about new technology. If they atacked the alliance, it would be a blowout. It wouldn't be possible to reppel them.

Like if the United States, Britian, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, and every other super power invaded a small, lesser developed country.

Considering that in the final version of FL, the nomads DIDN'T blow up Sol... The coalition could probably care less. The Alliance isn't on their turf anymore, and that's all they care about.

I am saying that if the sequal has the Alliance comming back to sol. He did say that they would never forget..

Post Sat Aug 09, 2003 7:46 pm

Russia was a part of the coalition. A good expansion pack would be a return to the Sol system, and/or an updated version of starlancer

Yeah. But it'd still be nice to see the Alliance and the Coalition unite at the face of the common danger: the Nomads. (and see them all kicking asses of the damned aliens :-)

Why did Spain get a ship? Compared with much more powerful nations like Australia or Canada, why Spain? It has a feeble excuse for a space program. If anyone deserved a ship it should have been France. It would have been interesting to see France and Germany interact 800 years in the future. A little off topic, but while we're talking about who didn't get a ship we might as well. And nobody go off on that bartender'r rumor about 8 ships. --- RR16

Ok, so these ships are built by members of the aliance right? I think it was a joint effort because they all launched from the same place, so no. They then must have been named for the major contributing countries, in terms of material, money, and population. Germany has been quite industrious for quite a while now (hey 2 world wars solo in less than 50 years) so they were probably a mojor contributor, the US and UK have at least a recent history of doing things, and asia, esp. Japan, could certainly pull somthing off. Who is going to fill the last niche? It could have been africa, south america, austrailia (and perhaps should have been, for consistancy) or some other European nation

Who are you and why are you reading my quote?

They already have THREE germanic "culture" in FL. They needed variety aka "affirmative action" Throw in some Latin-speaking people. Now the choice is between France and Spain. "Hmmmmmm" says Chris Roberts "Lemme think about it for a while "

You say France deserved a ship...and yet, at the beginning of SL, the French and Italian fleets had already been defeated. After another hundred years(no offense, but given the tendency of the French to be overrun by their enemies ever since Napoleon was defeated), they wouldn't have even been active in the war. Defeated countries don't launch sleeper ships.

I will aid them when I can...if they give me a percentage of the salvage from whatever they frag along the way. Hell, they were even so kind as to sell me a ship after one of my jobs with them, and I've been flying her ever since. But god help them if someone puts a bounty on THEIR heads, for I don't care who I hunt for, as long as their live capture(or untimely death) can get me enough credits to buy a decent sized mug of my favorite drink."- A Freelance Bounty Hunter.
