bases will be either neutral, friendly or enemy depending on how you played so far, if you go off killing bountyhunters then most criminal factions will like you more, which will alow you to dock with their bases and buy their stuff

Ermm..go to Omicron Alpha to Planet Malta for the Sabre and Omicron Gamma to Planet Crete for Titan

try going to omega 3 freeport 1 (zoners)... thats where i went to get my rep hacked with the red hessians (i recommend it highly - made my life one helluva lot easier)

for my newly acquired sabre... (it rocks) i went to the Vogtland base in Dresden (red hessians)

if you buy the lvl8 shield from them - do not equip it if you plan to fight any Dauman. tissue paper would have protected me better... try graviton shield instead.

I think I see your problem.

The Titan is a Corsair ship, though. So you have to get friendly with them. Either by killing a zillion Xenos, or finding a place where you can bribe somebody to put in a good word for you or change your records.

Loved Elite, loved Escape Velocity (got an old Mac just to play it) and love Freelancer...

If you are good with the zoners, you could go to Omega 41 and hit the zoner base there Freeport 1 or 4 or something like that. Bounty hunters hand out missions there and you could take the ones that fight the Red Hessians. Don't take the ones that fight the Corsairs though.

Corsairs rep will get better if you fight the people that they hate. I would not recommend getting less than nutral with BH though. They are everywhere.

Saw, it's a lot easier if you just get a Hack for the Outcasts (I got a Rogue hack at FP4, then went to now neutral Mactan to get an Outcast one) which you can get a lot earlier in the game than a Hessian Hack, well a little sooner anyway, and after that just go through Bretonia where the enemies are sinchy, head up through the Taus, and into Omicron Alpha, there you can get the Sabre not to mention a Level *10* sheild...plus that opens up all of the Taus to you, plus Neutrality with GC, and with that comes neutrality with the Blood Dragons, I mean that opens everything but Rheinland to you, but who needs Rheinland anyway? Plus I'd rather be good with the Corsairs than the Hessians, which then supplies powerful Allies in ALL of the border worlds if you're still able to keep good with the Outcasts. Bleck, the only thing good about the Hessians is their territory battles with the Corsairs making killing them a big advantage...

solidstate, i figured the corsairs would be a better choice to ally with but, the situation i was in was pretty dismal and not looking to brighten any time soon. i hated to part with the $$$ for the bribe but i couldnt get in with the corsairs or the hessians and as a result, i was being attacked by both factions at the same time... lol it was miserable.
(plus - i really REALLY wanted a class 10 ship )
i finally went to freeport 1 in omega 3 looking for a bribe to either faction... the hessians were the first...
its not all bad being aligned with the R/H... they have pretty long arms. further than i expected.
it is still possible to attain neutrality with the corsairs?

im so worried about killing the wrong faction and pissing everybody off again, i must be the first lvl 10 ship thats never seen a battle...j/k (does rain-x work well for corsair smudges??? lmao) i always target the Titans first - i love the way they lean in flight sans a wing or two... lol

Sure, you can get Neutral with the Corsairs, just shoot down Hessians .

Just cross your fingers and hope that you're good enough with your buddies that shooting down enough of them to get you neutral with the 'sairs won't ruin your rep with them forever. Either that or you could just hunt down the Rheinland Police or BHs...
