After the SP-campain (you know, after you kicked the nomads tru the jumphole thing) the jumpgate to Alaska is locked, just as the on to tohoku (takagi's arch)
I know, it's stupid and serves no purpose.
There are mods wich unlock them (rebalance), so if you want to return there, try a mod.

Whats a mod?

OMG!

A mod is a modafacation to a game. Such as, adding new ships or changing the lock status of certian jumpgates/holes in the game.

If you look in the download fourm in TLR you can find a mod for opening the gate to Alaska.

The only other way of getting in is, as was mentioned, doing the SP missions.

In story, those Jump gates and controlled by the people and access codes...
but the problem arise: why those natural phenomenon--jump holes can be made "access denied" by people?? it's a bit strange...
and also although throughout the game it stressed that the Jump holes are rather unstable and can get u to anywhere...then y inside game no such things happened? it should have some random chance that u dock with a jump hole and the next second the "You are died" dialog appear or something like that...
all are just my Daydreamings~~

this is starting to get off topic but anyhow, the jump holes CAN leed anywhere, but anyone jumphole will ALWAYS take you to the same place (as long as it is 'stable')
