Protest for free rights to all factions

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Protest for free rights to all factions

I have decided to start this topic because I am ****ed off with the amount of insult flying around to almost all the factions. One group in particular has come under attack. You know which one I mean. The Bounty Hunters Guild. Now, a fair amount of critism comes from people who are enemies with them in the game, and I suspect this is because they get their asses whiped each time they trvel to the outer systems. I have similar problems too, I frequntly get blasted while exploring by both the corsairs and the outcasts. However, I don't critisise their skills, because if I call them crap pilots, and they can beat me, then it must mean that I am a crap pilot. I have started this to see what other people think, and also to see how long it takes to downgrade into a petty insults contest.

BHG is an easy target to pick on, because they don't belong anywhere.
It's not even a real faction they have, and killing them gets you good with allmost every other faction.
I'm laying off the BH = good/bad discussion, 'cause I don't give a damn thing about them.
Like I said before: Bounty Hunters are Insignificant

Wow, only one post and already we managed to insult the Bounty Hunters. In case you overlooked what I said at the beginning, this is about all factions, not just the hunters, although I'm sure it will degrade into that eventually...

I guess, people dislike the Bounty Hunters because the game sets them hostile for no apparent reason (I am not talking about the one time where a reason is given) and at that point you have only two choices.

First, let them shoot at you with impunity instead of vaporizing them like any other ships that attack you, until you have slain enough criminals to appease the Bounty Hunters.

Second, fight back when you get attacked. As a consequence, your rep with law enforcement (house police, armed forces) will get worse in a hurry because the BH are thick with them.

There are similar considerations with the Corsairs - they are the only source for pulse guns of certain classes and so it is a bad idea to shoot back when attacked. This can get ticklish in mine fields or clouds with volatile gas pockets because in these environments it is much more dangerous to run away than to simply destroy the attackers.

The reasson BhG is hostil in the story is that u have a bounty on your head

Post Thu Jul 10, 2003 3:22 pm

ur 1 of the most wanted people in space, like osama is that of the world

i'm a pirate, and the most criminals are wanted, so i'm hostile by all tradeline-users, police, militairy and hunters

i hope that that says enough??

After mission 4, yes. And they are reset to non-hostile once you buy a new ship.

But after mission 5 they are again set to shoot-on-sight hostile and buying a ship doesn't help. This is annoying because at that time you can buy class 5 shields and the torpedo launcher, so it is a good time for hitting the Omegas, Omicrons and Rheinland to get stinking rich (and Borrocos, of course).

However, this is no fun at all if you get waylaid by wings of five to eight Hammerheads. Even in a Drake this is tough since you have at best a class 5 shield and either class 5 guns with Borroco or class 5/6 Tarantulas without. I don't think any of the other ships available at time have a chance at all.

This would not be so annoying if there were some reason for the hostility, or if you could simply kill the BH just like any other criminals, without getting on the bad side of lawful factions.

BTW, there are quite a number of other bugs in the way reputation is handled during the campaign, but that is a different topic.

and at the end u will be first a cop-helper, but after a period u wanna do something else and shoot transporters down, and then the fun begin , the hunt for the edge-world

During the campaign you have a prize of 1.000.000 creds on your head! Of course they chase you as thick as flies...

For me, my pet hate-enemy are the Corsairs. Can't go anywhere without meeting these $#"%!. I need an Instant Corsair-killing weapon... >

The $1000,000 bounty is after the escape from Liberty but after you buy a ship the Bounty Hunters go neutral; same if you kill enough criminals.

During my last run through the campaign the Bounty Hunters loved me dearly just before mission 5, because I had bought a new ship and had slain scores of Red Hessian Stilettos and Sabres in order to learn how to fight in the Crusader (which has plenty of weapon hardpoints but flies like a pregnant cow). Even Liberty law enforcement (LSF, LPI, Navy) had gone neutral because I had roasted so many criminalsl; the only hostile factions were Mollys, Gaians, Red Hessians, and Outcasts. After mission five the BH and Liberty law were hostile again.

As I said, the rep sheet will get upset in mysterious ways during the campaign, without discernible reason.

You don't really want to get me started on insulting (and injuring) the Bounty Hunters now, do you?

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

Yeah, well, I'm extremley friendly with the Bounty Hunters Guild, I work with them and hunt down criminal ****s whether I'm on an actual mission for them or not. Oh, what fun to vaporise ten Hessian ships with only three Hammerheads on your side, or chase them into their own minefield. Makes me want to have some joy-hunting around Crete right now! And Bounty Hunter ships are some of the best around. O.K, why did the sight blank out the word j e r k s? That's not a cuss word last time I checked...

I said it before, I'll say it again, this is not only about the Bounty Hunters. It's to do with all factions, like how in multiplayer the Liberty Rogues start of hating you, or how even after saying no a dozen times, people still ask you for money to become friendly with 'Spa & Cruise'.

'Why are you laughing?'
Hey! They're laughing at your pain'

One group in particular has come under attack. You know which one I mean. The Bounty Hunters Guild.

I thought it was
My fault.

I hate the junkers, I start of neutral with them, then they hack me and tell me to "Drop the loot", wich I don't (who would). So they attack me and I kill them and they become hostile and attack me constantly, wich is very irritating.
I don't like to be bothered by a group of people with BH-like fighting skills

That better

Btw, You read my post, as good as I read yours. I said: I'm laying of the BH = good/bad discussion.
I only tried to explain why everyone insult them. They're just asking for it with their attitude.
