Where to hang out while leveling up

Where is a good place to hang out while leveling up. I am currently at level 22 and have the Anibus with good guns and shields. Just need a place to hang while I reach level 22. Don't much like trading so looks like fighting is the only real option. I am would like to wait till I am level 30 so I can get either the Sabre or the Eagle. Still haven't decided on which one

Any suggestions?

Also, should I look for a better ship prior to the Sabre or Eagle? Suggestions?

Yes, forgot about the wrecks. I have been looting them as I get to the different systems. Their only good for a very short time though.

Well, I have The Next Generation mod for Freelancer on and I like to hang out at Freeman's Base in the Omicron Major system. Random missions often range form 9k to 30k in payoff, commodities are all fairly low, and good weapons too.

Sell Anubis, buy Drake, and go to Omega-41 to earn up to $200k per mission (reward plus loot). Fastest way to get the class 10 ship of your choice 'at gunpoint', so to speak. If you think you're good you can use the Anubis instead of a fighter - it has much more room for looted commodities.

Or buy the Banshee and head to Omicron Alpha (lvl 18/19 Outcast Sabres) or Omicron Gamma (lvl 18/19 Corsair Titans). If they're neutral take missions from them, if they're hostile shoot them and get rich from loot. If you don't like it quite so hot try Tau-37 and Omicron Beta (lvl 15/16 Outcast Sabres) or Omicron Theta and Omega-41 (lvl 16/17 Corsair Titans). The Bounty Hunters fly Hammerheads of the appropriate levels in these systems.

What about the Banshee or a Siletto? Why the Drake?

The Drake can easily earn four times its purchase price in single mission. Try that with a Banshee or Stiletto.

P.S.: the Patriot can probably earn more than ten times its price in a single mission but it sells for $6600, so it isn't very much in absolute terms.

P.P.S.: of course, the Anubis can earn up to two hundred times its price per mission - so we're back to square one, aren't we?
