Networth

Well.. I am at level 6 and to get to level 7 I need a certain ammount of money. Then I go into my credits and I see I have almost that level of money... but on the other hand when I go look at my status it says my networth ( or whatever its called ) is really low. Like... tens of thounsands of credits low of how many credits I have now. Does it differ from credits? Or what?
