Fill your hold with some grossly overpriced commodity. That should bring your net worth below the threshold. If you sell the stuff afterwards then you re-cross the threshold and hopefully the game will notice it this time.

Also, there seems to be a glitch in the game whereby you sometimes level up if you do a trade transaction (buy or sell, doesn't matter) where the value is greater than the level-up requirement delta, which is $10000 for the free time after mission 4. This means that there is more than one way in which the transaction I described in the first paragraph can help you level up.

BTW, have you patched your game?

I have patched my game, and I also thouhgt that I should do a transaction but it didnt't work, what I did figure out that the real figure needed to get over the level 8 is 59000 so maybe the game is reading it wrong I'll post you If that corrects it

I now have 65k and this is making me seriously mad, should I back up my save game and reinstall? I installed the 1.1 patch but it still says 1.0 at the bottom could the patch have not worked correctly? Well I'm off to find an answer

Your best option is to save your savegames + multiplayer account id and then get rid of the patch. I.e., uninstall, then do a clean install of Freelancer (re-entering the MP account id, if you have MP accounts somewhere) and restore your SP savegames.

In the unpatched Freelancer the transaction should work as advertised, and I as far as I can see the stuck-level bug strikes only people who have installed the patch.
