He doesnt actually give you a ship. He just gives you money,so dont bother looking for the ship.

I had the same ting, i think Tobias is full of Sh!te and needs a kickin! He almost go t me killed. I was in a small fighter and was outclassed by 8 AI bots in the trade lane to London and boy did i sh!t a brick. And when there, nothing! So i had to trudge all the way back

I'd agree that tobias isnt talking about any particular ship, its probably just a hint that there are new ships available to you. But he also says something about how you should change your ship cause a descrition of it will be out. While i have my doubts about this (i'll maybe check the mission .inis and see if there is anything about it) the last time i played SP i did think it was true.

Normally at that point in SP i would buy a different ship but this time i was palying FLRebalance and had the xwing so stuck with it. A few minutes later i exited a tradelane and started getting attacked by loads of ships. Defnitely some rheinland ones and some BH's and police too. I didnt think much about it till i had bought the jedi starfighter and gone back to the same station. This timei was o.k. rheinland and BH ships were there but not attacking, so i checked my reps. I was nowhere near hostile with any of them and i hadnt done much fighting in between visits. To be honest i think there is probably another explanation but it is possible that you should change your ship. Anyone had a similar experience or want to tell me i am getting paranoid?

I know after I switched to the Crusader from my Defender (this is AFTER Tobias tells you to) I got hit by 8 or so BHs outside of a Jump Gate...but they were Pirahnas and I was used to that after the Campaign Missions I'd already gone to, so it was nothing hard. It seemed to me to be scripted, since I was only a little under the middle with BHs.

I took the Piranha at New London, because I beleave it's the best you can get easaly adn it's good enough to kick Hovis's ass in the race

When you land you'll go hostile to the bounty hunters, and when you buy a new ship (anywhere will do) they go back to neutral. What I like to do is camp sheffield station until I'm friendly with all the criminal factions, THEN switching my ship.

So it is scripted. I'm not going mad after all Nice move wasting the BH's to get better rep, tho i expect it doesnt last very long.

I just reached this part on my third pass through the single player. After talking to Tubby I went and bought a Legionnaire. Going into the station I was in trouble with the BHs. Coming out I was fine, so it is scripted. The minute I bought a new ship they went neutral.

That's a good idea LordZach. I'm replaying for the 4th-5th time, 1st time with rebalance 1.9. I think I'll try this. I purposely didn't change my ship when I played through rebalance 1.6. I wanted the bounty hunters to attack me at every oppurtunity since I had a ship loaded with the uber-powerful matterthief guns and the best shields I could get. I raked in the cash that way.

The game tracks whether you bought a ship after mission 4 and after mission 5 (which is likely a bug as there is no indication in the story for this). However, there is no reason to sell a perfectly serviceable ship just because a couple of low-level punks like the BH are hostile (also Gaians and a couple of others IIRC).
