I wouldn't know, but if you post what your having trouble with during the race I'm sure someone here could help.

hey what i did here was just activate my ruise engines and tried to get as close to the inside of each ring as possible when turning. i did this 1st time an won the race. hope this helps u out

Fly in cockpit mode, not from the outside view. Don't use "Go to".

I use outside view more so I can keep track of him a lil easier

Is there nobody who knows how to hack the program so that it thinks that Hovis has been beateb at the end of the race?

I bought a legionare and took the leed from the start
I´v also beaten him with a simple Crusader, when I started playing FL it took some time for me to win that **** race.

Just learn the racing gates and no matter wat kinda ship u got u will take the leed at the 2 last racing ring.

When you take the rings watch the waypoints and go through that ring near the edge, that way you'll have a start on the next ring, that oughtta help.

I beat it on the first try on my first time around. Second time I lost (was flying a patriot) when he bumped into me when i was passing him and he threw me off the course

The easiest way is to shoot Hovis on the Hood. Works everytime.

The hack listed in the other topic does not work (or at least I have not been able to get it to work) but this one will. It is definitely not the most elegant solution but I am guessing that you do not really care and just want to move on with the game and your life. Open Folder Options from the View or Tools menu bar (depending on your operating system) in Windows Explorer. Choose the View tab and uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" option. Decrypt m06.ini (located in \Freelancer\DATA\MISSIONS\M06 directory) to m06.ini.txt. Change line 775 of the file from "Act_ActTrig = com_0170" to "tm_dexterhumbled" (all without quotes). Load your game and after listening to Dexter yell at the weapons platform for the last time the game with register that you have beaten him and instruct you to fly back to the battleship hood.

Megastar, i'm stuck on the race, and would like to try a bit of editing as you describe,
but i don't know how to -
"Decrypt m06.ini (located in \Freelancer\DATA\MISSIONS\M06 directory) to m06.ini.txt"
tried some of the ini editors, but cannot work out how to use them,
can you help?

Thanx Megastar this looks like it. However, I'm not sure how to decrpyt the .ini file. When I open it with notepad it just shows lines of code and some text at the bottom but I cant find the line you refer to.

Please help since I'm so frustrated with this level. Thanx again

megastar, agree 100% with Lodro Dorje above, did a search in notepad for Act_ActTrig = com_0170
could not find it,
