I was wondering what other people bought in New London after Tobias gives you the 25 thou. I got a cavalier and 4 Rippers and am still looking for a more powerful shield than my Guardian, maybe some kind of molecular shield w/ power greater than 1100. I'm level 8 by the way and have about 30 random missions to hit level 9.

Death may only be the begining, but it still sucks when it is accompanied by your wingman saying "Sorry about that!"

The Cavalier is the best fighter you can get in Bretonia. There are only two other ships that are even better: the Patriot and the Drake. The Patriot is sold in Liberty space so it is not an option at that point in time, and the campaign will take you to where you can buy the Drake long before you need it. So sit back and enjoy the Cavalier for a while.

And don't worry about the shields. You can buy graviton shields during the missions but outside missions you can get only the inferior positron shields (unless you are friendly with outlaws or stray out of Bretonia).
