Best way to steal Cargo?

I often see large cargo ships passing by, and being new to the game I wonder if I can take some of the cargo. Do I blow up the ship and pull in as much as I can? Can I target parts of the ship to shoot out specific cargo areas then grab and run? Can I order them to drop their cargo? I don't want to buy the goods just get it and sell it.

Also I see large depots around bases. Are there goods inside I can take if I shoot them down?
Any help would be great!

you can either blow the whole ship up, or target each of it's cargo containers individually. I wouldn't reccomend pirating from the beginning of the game, though, because with the weak ship you've got at first, the police will swarm all over you.

Yep, the depot pods around bases will release cargo when you destroy them. However, it goes without saying that pirating cargo ships and cargo depots will seriously annoy the factions that own them.

Like maswastage said, make sure you're in decent level before you start nailing cargo ships. If you do want to take on cargo ships, try lane hacking them rather than taking them out near bases, they'll be far easier targets without support.

Ok, I have been raiding cargo ships since lev. 3. No big deal.

SCAN the trains. Do not attack Rhinos, Depots, or armored transports. ONLY ATTACK TRAINS. Preferrably ones from other houses.

Scan them first, find one that carries something OTHER than water or oxygen. Something like niobium, pharmecuticals, boron, beryllium, weapons... ya know... EXPENSIVE stuff.

Destroy the cargo container if you can, the whole transport if you are in a hurry. Tractor in the cargo, and HAUL ASS into a shipping lane, without attacking anyone else. once you get 2 or 3 rings down, everyone forgives you.

Go to Rochester Base (Junkers) and start shooting their ships. They'll have you for it, but most CSV's carry lots of good cargo. Ship it all to Manhattan and sell. If they drop cardamine then it's big $$$.

Or from Yanagi (Sigma 13) to New Berlin. They drop a lot of cardamine in Sigma 13.

go to the research base in honsu, there r always a lot of freighters, fighters and... weapon platforms
