What does affect reputation

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

What does affect reputation

Sorry if this is a redundant thread, but I couldn't find any related information searching this forum.

There are some strange things happening with my reputation. My only enemies where the Bounty Hunters and Mollies (the latter far away from my area of operation - Berlin to Tokyo).

Although all I did was trading between Berlin/Tokyo, my rep with Kruger mining decreased. As soon as it was red, the Rhineland Police, Military and Daumann (who were all green before) suddenly dropped to red and started to attack.

What the heck is going on?

I know that

1. Completing missions for a faction improves your rep with them and (to a lesser degree) their allies
2. It decreases the rep with the party you operated against and (to a lesser degree) their allies
3. It increases your rep with enemies of the enemy you fought (slightly)
4. The effect of bribes is pretty obvious (except that the positive effect on allies of the faction you hack into is not mentioned by the bribed person)
5. Piracy will affect the rep regarding the victim and local police/military.
6. With some factions, reputation tends to wear off (positive or negative), if you stay away from them.

Nothing of this explains what happens to me. Any ideas?

Does anyone have more information on what affects reputation?

Thx!

Kai

Trading does somehow affect reputation. Anybody got the manual?..

anyway, if you a green with some factions and red with their allies, they'll choose to help their allies first.

Sometimes it is good to be enemies to some neutral factions, like xenos and bounty hunters. It's just that they are most of the time everywhere, which makes life a bit hard..

I seem to remember DA claiming that Sid Miers Pirates was an inspiration for Fl, or that they had pinched some ideas from it

Unfortunately due to XP being such a bag of crap i cant properly run it anymore, nut the deal in Pirates was the more you traded with a colony the bigger/better it became. This sounds like a similar effect, probably by trading with bases of certain factions you are doing them some good and therefore upping your rep with the slightly. Thus pissing some other guys off.

Just as possible its nothing to do with this tho. Post if you figure out whats going on.

(nor is there an entry for it in the empathy.ini)

No effect noticed here either. I've been trading for a while now with no missions or bribes and the list is static.

BTW how exactly does the reputation function work?
I understand that after a mission your rep is adjusted using the reputation formula, but does difficultly have anything to do with it?
Also if you just attack a faction on its own, does your rep change with the values in the file per kill or per squad kill?

Did you do any favors for GMG? If your rep improves with GMG, it decreases with Krugar. Perhaps you bribed GMG to purchase their high level guns (Skyblast ?

In my experience, if you got problems with criminals faction, go to Junkers and do mission for them, mostly just kill Bounty Hunters.

If you got problems with the good side, go to a system that have Xenos and do missions for the Bounty Hunters to kill Xenos.

Helping Junkers kill Bounty Hunters will almost increase all your criminal faction reps. Meanwhile, killing Xenos, well, it raises all other factions rep, plus if you do it for the Bounty Hunters, good side faction rep raise more than normal.
My explanation isnt technical, it just based on the game i'm playing hope this help....
