So when do we get to invade Earth?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

I wonder where all the other massive amounts of stars are in this game.

I have a fond love of the medium blue star.

Hmm maybe they should name the stars next in the expansion. Or they could tottally rework their odd inaccurate star clusters to make sense in the real world.

Alright heres another anomaly I found. In the game you can go up and down as much as you like. But there is no reason to. Thats because everything lies on this perfectly flat plane, such as the stars planets and space stations just about everything. If we were actually in space first of all there probably wouldnt be any up or down. And secondly everything wouldnt be on this perfect little plane. Some things would be way up high and some way down low.

Also does anything orbit! And if they do what about the trade lanes? The trade lanes would like wrap around the sun and somehow have parts of it completely devoid of the stars gravitational pull. I am looking way to far into these things but its fun.

Please respond!

ok here I am at it again. What is a K because thats how fast we move. It has to be hella fast because we can go planet to moon in no time. I think it took apollo missions three days to get to the moon goin at some insanely fast speed of like some thousand kilmoters per hour. But in this game we make like wise journeys in a few seconds. Ohwell...

Just follow this simple rule when playing any game or watching any movie:

set your brain to the off position and don't think

and then everything works out right

Of cource you would need to have moving tradelanes as bases and planets orbit their respective stars, as well as massive time dilation that would result because of highspeed travel.

and lets just not even start on the space monkey planet

I know, but for some strange reason my brain likes to work. Any solutions, to help it stop I sometimes just fight rogues. Or even better do trade misions.

Ok back to forums original topic. You know about invading earth and all. It's already begun! Well heres how it happened. I was flying around in Bretonia lets say the dublin system. I found this stupid little molly so I blew it up.

Thats not the end of the story. It was right next to a jump hole and a a chunk the size of a softball went hurdling into the jump hole. Then thats when the Dave Beckett quantum leap **** started to happen. Because the chunk of molly travelled to the year 2003 and crashed into a Chicago apartment.

And you remember that little computer that Al had, well anyways it told me to lick into the archives from that year and I found my molly!

Cool huh... Quantum leap... now those were the days.

what about planetary rotation?
the technically inclined programers don't seem to have included plannets moving over time?
or has technology managed to have them just "hang" in space?
maybe they found a use for microsoft operating systems after all!

Post Sun May 11, 2003 5:22 pm

The simple reason for the planets not rotating around the sun is that it would be too complicated if they did. As for why planets don't rotate on their axis, I can't explain. Maybe that would also have been too complicated...

Cpbuja dont worry about my posts. I just forget a lot then add them after I post. Not a big deal.

You should try playing Frontier the Elite sequel. The whole milky way was simulated in that with realistic orbits and distances and everything. I remember when trying to land on a planet you would have to fly very fast just to catch up to it. Even now I find the realism very impressive but of course it made it a hard game to play.
In FL I think the K must stand for Kilometers which of course makes all the systems really small. But no other measurement makes sense because when you're really close to something it is measured in metres.
Like the other guy said you have to switch off your brain because if it were realistic you'd never have a proper playable game.

this could be a thing for an expansion

like going back to earth and finding that the Nomads did eventually found and destroyed earth

Or that there was like at the end of WW I a giant uprising and/or mutiny of the remnants that were left behind that were fighting against the coalition, and won
and are living in peace

personally i would like to see (in a sequal) the nomads getting their a** kicked (w/ great difficulty) by oucast/corsair alliance (temporary of course) before they go back to their own rivalry. and you (trent?) are a pilot for either the corsairs or outcasts when a new threat comes blah blah blah... Coalition finds sirus alliance reforms then we can go back to the "how many sleeper ships were there?" debate after kusari bretonia rheinland and liberty get destroyed because of their really bad ships and only outcasts and corsairs are left to fight the coalition which should be fairly interesting... or at least interesting to see sabres and titans working together.

Or alternatively you are a coalition pilot sent on an expeditionary force to the sirus system
