Strange phenomenon in the Dublin system

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Strange phenomenon in the Dublin system

I was just frying some Mollies at Arranmore Base in the Dublin system when a buddie of mine accused me of cheating. He blew up several times at over 10k away from my position. From his perspecive this was true since I was the only other guy in the same system.

As we found out shortly after that, if you approach the Storm wreck from front your shield start going down and finally you´ll go boom. This starts from 260-M away and gets more and more intense the closer to the wreck you get. Also, this phenomenon seems to wander around a bit. At one position, it starts sucking down your shield, then stops, then starts again, ...

We both weren´t touching any of the mines nearby ( there´s a small mine clear zone around the ship), but got blown to pieces in a matter of seconds at the most intense spot (closest to the Storm).

I surely call this strange...

Probally lag, I mine gold there and get sheild loss when stationary sometimes for no reason. Also I'd expect theres a few miss placed mines that DA didnt fix, maybe not skinned as sometimes you can get Pushed out of your flight path by no obvious meteors/rock/debrie in flight.

Preacher,

I've spent many hours in that gold field mining and creaming Mollys and have not experienced the problem you have. From your post, it sounds like you're in MP. I've never been there in MP, just SP with no trouble. Certanly sounds strange. :-/

the nearer you get to a radiation source, the stronger it becomes.

yet i dunno if that was the cause, maybe lag aswell...

I kinda wonder why those wrecks have such strong radiation. I mean, wouldn't that apply to ships you just destroy? Wouldn't there be radiation there? Nope, none whatsoever. Strange things.

Radiation from the damaged reactor leaked into space forming radiation pockets around the ships over the many years it was drifting lifeless in space.

I get that problem in MP too, even on my own server. Guess it's just a netcode issue.

Went there today near the Storm wreck and think it might be a semi trap. A bit like the dangerous area in sigma13 where the Explosive gas fires off every second in one spot. So if your unlucky to be in it you die.

As I also had the Shields failed, but combat reactions where quicker and hit F/G in quick succession and Thrusters which saved me, so got out alive.

just get the ubershield cheat if ur in sp, that thing can survive zone 21, and... what exactly (or where) is the Zone 21 Minefield.

You can mine Gold in the Dublin system? How do you mine? Where's the gold? what ship you got? So many questions so little time

Post Wed May 07, 2003 11:00 am

look at the mineable zones using the mine icon at the map and shoot the flying small rockswhan you are inside the field and you'll get the resources by tractor beaing if there is the gold in it.. if there isnt.. keep shooting..

argh i'm never gonna get paid, Goddbye a million credits

It's not a phenomenon, MP has a bug that sometimes doesn't show mines in the minefield, you are running into mines, thats what lowers your shield and hull, you just can't see them, only the peripheral ones far away. Hopefully someone will fix this problem soon.
