Some general tips on finding hidden stations needed

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Some general tips on finding hidden stations needed

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you guys have a good way or strategy to find hidden bases (for example like Buffalo Base in Liberty - New York). Should I just fly into an asteroid field or such and just keep flying around? Are most hidden bases in an asteroid field, gas cloud or anything like that? Can you buy or ask any info about hidden info on bases that are just connected with trade lanes?

Also, I'm now in Bretonia, and can anyone recommend me any criminal organisations to keep friends with? I usually keep on the good side of the law, but if I can get any great ships by aligning with the Gaians or anything, I'd like to know . Thank you for your time,

Pencilgod

One of the more effective methods is to fly around the general area you are searching and look at the map with patrol paths displayed. You are likely to find a base or a jumphole where several paths intersect.

You can also try hailing ships just to find out where they are coming from. If they are from patrol, they tell the name where the come from, and if that name is not on the map, it's a new base..

Still , ,following patrol route is the best..

Juni : Did I ever tell you that people are change by circumstancecs?
Trent : uhh[!..No?..
Juni : Well I did. Babble..babble..bla..bla..bla..
Trent : (Ok...ok.. do I get to sleep with you or not?)

Thanks a lot, this method works perfectly. Too bad I can't go too far into asteroid clouds and such because the Bounty Hunters and all the criminals are far in the red .

you got the criminals and the bounty hunters hostile toward you? Wow. Try killing more BHs to get friendlier with the criminals; or the other way around..

Well, the problem is, I try to stay at the good side of the law everytime, but after the last liberty mission my bounty hunters meter went automatically full in the red. So, I bought a new ship like the mission said so, and later I did the mission where you go to Sprague, and the Rheinland military destroys the Docking ring. Again, for some reason, my Bounty Hunters meter is all in the red. Other factions that are all in the red are Outcasts, Liberty Rogues, Gaians, Xeno's, Molly's and Junkers. Does anyone know how to quickly 'suck up' to any of these factions, preferably the Bounty Hunters or Outcasts ('cause they own Magellan)? I already heard that I should kill some Xeno's, but I can't seem to find any in Bretonia, and Magellan is owned by the Outcasts, so I can't get to Liberty quickly. Please, give me some tips .

Hmm, that's odd... buying a different ship should put your rep with the BHs to neutral. I know Tobias tells you to get your new ship from the dealer on New London, so maybe it makes a difference where you buy the ship, but that's only a guess. I had a Dagger at that point in the story, and I didn't want to give it up for a Piranha or some ugly Bretonian bucket-of-bolts, so I just "dealt" with the Bounty Hunters. Anyway, during the SP story, be careful which factions you try to change your standing with; because it's quite possible all your effort will be lost when the story changes it later.

ohh..you havn't beaten the game yet..sorry, I just assumed...anyway, if you are hostiel with the bounty hunters, even though you changed your ship, it probably means that you somehow had them hostile even before you did the mission..

At that point in the game you've just been run out of the Liberty Systems?
As I recall I was neutral with bounty hunters and it went way into the red. I just assumed that the Liberty military put a bounty on me and killed them. As a bonus because my rep with the Liberty police and military was so bad I was friendly with the rogues.
If you've got your eye on the Dromedary back on Mactan base, be aware that the Lane Hackers run it but you'll also have to be friendly with the Outcasts to go there.
Being friendly with those 2 will also help a lot when you start traveling to the border worlds near Kusari space. (lot's of credits to be made there)

I had a Dagger at that point in the story
the dagger is quite a well design ship I must say... I like it.. and oh yeah

patrol path

is also useful in finding jumpholes but sometimes the ships just fly around in circles and not according to the patrol paths.

argh.. im never gonna get paid.. goodbye a million credits..

Just going slightly off topic, where can i get my hands on a Dagger? I'm redoing the game, i'm still on the liberty missions - about to escort the artifact convoy - but Defenders are boring and slow, i want something new and fast...

Here's one:

put your engines on cruise and take a lap through the system

Mr Trent: How about you **** off?

Post Fri May 23, 2003 12:14 am

The BH goes back to full red after the Sprague mission. It's either a programming glitch or it's because your new identity has been found out and therefore a new contract is out on you.

It'll go back to neutral after you run away from Rheinland agents in Bretonia (Mission 7, IIRC).

@ Mr Trent,

I read in another post you were just "experimenting" how to post an url link. That's a weak excuse when you're deliberately misleading by stating that the said link would answer the thread's question.

@ Forum Moderator,

Could you please edit Mr Trent's bogus links? Thx.
