My Sabre handles better then an Eagle!!!

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

My Sabre handles better then an Eagle!!!

Yupz....

I changed the values in the ini files.....reduced the inertia and drag stuff...I wonder what the hack "drag" means...since there should be no drag in vaccuum.

And now my Sabre has both "coolness" and maneavability. Yeah! This definitely makes the game more enjoyable....don't have to be frustrated with the poor turning speed when I am chasing the Nomads....

I am planning to improve all the fighters across the board so the game become more balanced too....like the weaker fighters to have better armour, able to use better weapon and better shield.....because I find it ridiculous that the Liberty (United States) actually uses craps like defenders against other powerful vessels. I am also trying to figure out how to enable enemies to use all their guns. Do you think that would make the game more realistic? (I understand that the current imbalance is caused by the need for gameplay balance in the SP campaign of course).

Now if you could only load that into a new game at the begining of the campaine. With all the guns and equipment.

A** smashing central

I hack my Eagle so that it has infinite amount of energy and shield.
The hull has been increased from 9900 to 10000000000. Takes forever to blow it up if anybody ever gets throught the shield..

also, not to mention the 300 forward facing nomad guns firing at 11.00 firing rate, doing 10000 damages per shot..

oh yeah, afterburner goes up to 3000, cruise speed at 10000

I'm king of hell for sure..everybody runs away from me..

man,...what are you trying to say?..

..and I just wonder, where do I buy one of those?...

You made the same kind of statement about Xenos in another post, with them being "morons" for using Startrackers against everyone else. Now you're saying the Liberty ships are "crap". Factions use ships in a given system in accordance with that system's level of difficulty. If the Liberty forces flew in the edge systems, they'd be flying in Liberty VHFs (which weren't designed, I know, I'm just making a point).

I did mentioned I understand this in my post. Read the last line. What I am trying to say is that after the SP campaign, all this "difficulty levels" only served to tip the balance of the game. If you have a VHF, say a Sabre with level 10 shield. Try to be hostile to the police and just stop outside Manhatten. Even while "everything" in the vicinity was shooting at you like crazy and your vessel shakes like hell, your shield will probably still take 0 damage. This is because all their damage rate adds up is still lower then your shield regeneration rate.

I think this is ridiculous and definitely irritates me. Being experienced pilot and having good craft does not make you immortal. In short, I am talking about overall balance after the SP campaign. What I am trying to show that a nation like Liberty should have advanced and powerful crafts and that the "gap" between each craft shouldn't be so huge.

I suppose the ships you encounter could have been made progressively stronger as you progress in levels, as another way to deal with the "balance". That might have worked in SP; but in MP it wouldn't work out too well because of the differences in the level of advancement of all the different players.

i think he's trying to say, that after the sp, all factions, houses should fly in vessels that are compatible when coming up against other factions.
i.e. after the sp, if the cosairs and hessians decided to team up and screw liberty, they'd do it. i mean, whats a defender against a sabre and titan? even if they came in with daggers and legionarres.. defenders would still get screwed. if the nomads decided to ge thru.. there's not much hope for liberty unless the osiris pops up again.. so factions should have similar if not equal power in their vessels.. so liberty might wanna get something definitely stronger than a defender. at least a C10 vessel in their fleet. and they should put their cruisers into more use. same goes with the bretonians.. i didn't really pay attention to what they were flying.. but something better would be nice. kusari can stay. they'll cope. c7?? nvm.. rheinland defnitely has enough.

This is currently registered with the FAA as a glider, and according to FAA records, it has no engine - which is technically true, if you ignore that large rocket in back.

AGREED
i was like laughing like mad when I flew back to liberty in a Hammerhead to check out their vessel salesman and read the Defender's Description.
It just cracks me up that Liberty's Navy best can't even match a Light Kusari Drake Fighter flown by Kusari's Police

sich...when you modded you're ship so much that you can't die ever where's the fun then...?

All you can do then is explore a bit and be a transporter

No fun in that, for me there has to be a little danger :p

Post Sun Apr 27, 2003 5:43 am

Yeah, good point.

My reason of modding is to give the game better balance in terms of faction strength and political realism. Uncontrolled modding will only ruin the game.

By the way, I just modded the Defender into a VHF with max level 9 weapons capability and improved shield strength. Now the liberty should have no problem dealing with rouges like the Corsairs. I have also modified all the infocards to update this change.

Now I am figuring how to change the price of a fighter....and I am also planning to add new fighters into the game.....

After improving all the vessels of the four nations, I will find out how to modify the missions, the patrol routes and stuff so I can make the Corsairs and Outcast attack other nations in their territory. It will be a BIG battleground....heh heh

Post Sun Apr 27, 2003 6:01 am

Yeah, it will be so big a battleground that you will be completely excluded.
What I mean is that if you have 20-50 vessels fighting it off, you won't be much of a concern to them now will you? Especially if they fly jacked-up ship like you're planning for them to do.
The game was balanced so that you make a big difference, with reasonable limitations...
As for the Outcasts being able to wipe out Liberty, I think that Liberty Cruisers and Gunships AND Battleships can cope with the pirates...
When you think about it, you'll see that I'm right.

p.s. Of course, who am I to tell you not to MOD the damn thing...?

I don't care whether I will make a difference. I have a different vision for Freelancer. I see Freelancer as a simulation. Thats why realism precedes all concerns....besides my Sabre MKII aren't anywhere weak.

In any case, the AI are so poor that they will take a long time for them to finish the enemies off, I will still make a difference. Besides, I love huge battles where vessels are everywhere and everyone shouting differnt commands.....the chaos is nice. : ) It adds to the dynamism of the world, yes it does.

Oh...one last thing, any one knows how to change the AI guns?

1) Vancolver modding your ship is kinda lame it rakes the fun out of the game
2) There is drag in space ever heard of the theoretical "dark matter"
3) Drag may also include the turning whil you are goin at 300 cruise speed
4) For the sake of balance I get your point but really it wouldn't have been as much fun getting your Titan on manhattin now would it?
5) I don't think those situations would ever happen and I agree with the other 2 it was needed for balancing SP though not as effective in MP

Well thats my 5 cents
