How do I get large cargo vessels to drop cargo so I can tractor it in ?

If I shoot a composal on a large cargo vessel the pilot tells me to hold fire, If I don't the whole neighberhood turns on me.

How do you get the cargo without losing reputation ?

You obviously want there cargo, you cant get them to drop it so you have to kill em

Whenever I've taken a few shots at a cargo container on a train, the escorts open up on me - as well as the train itself. Since I'm in a VHF, I just ignore them, tractor in the goods and go about my business. Sometimes I take out the escorts if I'm already hostile with whatever faction they happen to belong to.

Did anyone every figure out if just blowing the containers actually changes your rep?
I know it makes everyone around start shooting you like crazy, but so does not dropping cargo when asked by your local pirates and that is rep independant.

Also what about ramming the cargo pods?
