Corsair home system?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Corsair home system?

Ok...I'm in the corsair home system and came across an unknown jump hole in that huge cloud....I enter said jump hole and am annihilated by a bunch of Nomads.....I have a titan with the best corsair weapons I could muster but those things literally take me apart within seconds....is there any way to survive those Nomads? I really wanted to take a peek in that system but can't. And then there is a certain system in Kusari space I can't enter because the jump hole keeps saying access denied....is that system closed forever? I can't recall the name of the system but its only enterable by jump hole.

the nomads are tougher then the ones in the SP missions but not at all impossable to beat. what kind of shields do you have? try the old 'engage the cruse engines untill you are at 300 then cut engines turn around and blast them while thay are in line with you' rutine. that ones is effective. as for the jumphole you mentioned, there are some jumpholes that are unaccessable after the SP missions but you have to be more spicific.

If you have finished the SP campaign, as I suspect you have, then that denied jump hole was one of the story ones and is no longer accessible, I believe. If you haven't finished the storyline yet, it will be temporarily accessible during the latter part of the story. Several jump holes are like that, actually.

If the nomad ships are too much for you, it may be because of the "best Corsair weapons"...they're probably not good enough. I suggest that you search for some of the many wrecks that have excellent Class 10 guns, and get yourself the best shields you can find, and stock up on nanobots and batteries. The nomads attack in--usually--waves of four, and they're not that hard if you're sufficiently well equipped. Be sure to attempt to tractor everything dropped by nomad ships you destroy: the nomad weapons work very well against their makers, without using energy.

Also note that the nomads have no shields, but very strong hulls, so choose any less-than-Class-10 weapons accordingly.

It appears that there may be a minimum level (around 30+ ?) required for the nomads to drop weapons. I can't verify that myself, as I was level maxed by the time, post-storyline, that I went hunting nomads.

Good hunting!

Whats the best shield to slap on the Titan? My problem with the Nomad ships is mainly my shield goes down in a few hits and then a few more my hull is torn up. I don't even have time to even think it happens so quickly. This is SP mode but way after the story ended. I'm lvl 38 or so and have over a mil in credits. I take it there is no freighter better than the humpback? One last thing. How is Starlancer related to Freelancer? is it an old game? Thats it for now.

well the shield the titan comes with shuld be good enough. the reson you are getting killed so fast is becaues the titan is a huge target and moves like a slug. get a better ship. and for your other question, the humpback has the best shield/weapon loadout. and the second biggest cargo hold. so i guess in a way it's the best fraighter.

use your thrusters and don't stick with one enemy

when you're taking hits, immediately do 360degree turns with thrusters on, that really throws their aim off, when your shields are decent again, go after them again

Dude, where's my Super Star Destroyer?

Post Mon Apr 21, 2003 10:51 am

Ok...fastness wasn't my problem...it was just the shield going down in a second and then my hull going down to nothing in another second. I had just entered the system and didn't have a chance to even see my surroundings before I was blown to oblivion. Didn't have a chance to even use my thruster. Which freighter has a bigger hold than the humpback?

titan comes with the lvl 8 gravitron shield i belive... dont know what to tell you about you getting killed so fast. maby try the lvl 10 shield at tripoli (omicron gamma)? the domtray has more cargo room. it can be found at the hackers base in magellen

Huno, you say fastness is not your problem, its your shield - but that sounds doubtfull. Fighting nomads with the default shield that comes with the titan or sabre is difficult but you shouldnt get killed that quickly. Are you definitely going at max normal speed when you jump i.e. 80?

As for the best shield, like hairfarmer said tripoli or crete sell it. Its the class 10 Advanced Brigande shield.

Ok...was there a point to the monkey planet and robot planet? or were the game designers just bored?

As people have been saying, speed is your best friend against nomads. Use mouse flight and move in erratic patterns. That circle tactic someone suggested is EXCELLENT against all computer fighters. Just move your mouse cursor to the top center of the screen and you'll start doing circles. You'll get hit, but very rarely - allow your shield to recharge, then attack again!

Remember, Nomads don't carry any sort of repair items, unlike some enemy ships. You can spin as long as you need to to recharge - Use this spin tacting INSTEAD of shield batteries - none of the planets in the Unknowns sell anything, as far as I know.

Also, the Dromedary is the only freighter bigger than the Humpback. The Humpback can carry better weapons and is stronger as far as power goes, but the Dromedarys hold is 275, whereas the Humpback's is 250. The Dromedary is on Mactan Base in the Magellan system.

I also noticed that they don't have any missile weapons (so far!) when I was fooling around in their territory with a Titan (traded this space A-10/Mi-24 for a Sabre). Just hit cruise and they won't have any means of stopping you. Make sure you carry plenty of batts and nano's. I went back on the Order's ice base after SP. No repairs? No service? Always did wonder what Hoth would be like after the Rebels left...
