Question about rep hacks

I have a little question about reputation hacks.

I read the sticky of all the rep hacks and tried out some of the locations for faction with the Lane Hackers. I went to Freeport 4. Now, the lane hackers HATE me (along with the liberty rougues). Hate as in red all the way but one bubble. (in my earlier days I would get mad at them when they tried to go after me and just slaughter them... whoops!)

In Freeport 4 I keep seeing a lane hackers guy, but he hates me so he won't talk to me.

With rep hacks, do you have to be at least neutral with a faction in order to get your rep hacked? If so... does this mean I really have to start going after the Liberty Police? :-/

I have a nice little trade route going and the hackers are harassing me to no end... but the route includes Planet LA so I dont want to mutilate by police faction. Help?

No. You don't need to be neutral with them or whatever. You can use the bribe for the Hackers no matter what. The more hostile they are to you, the more it costs you to turn them friendly.

If the bribe option is not given at the bar on Freeport 4, I suggest you launch and simply dock again. If there, as you say, is a bribe for them on Freeport 4, you should be able to do it there.

If that doesn't help at all, Go after the Xenos. Kill as much of them as needed. The hackers will turn to neutral and in time, may even start to like you (depends how many Xeno ships you add to your killboard). This will take some time, but it's also an option.

Come to think of it, Freeport 4 is not in the hands of the Zoners, but the IMG. Usually, the bartender is the one that has the bribes. I don't think that the IMG bartender has a bribe for the Hackers. It is more likely that the bribe for the Hackers is available by the Hacker that is on that base. But he won't talk to you, because you are still an enemy to them.

I have never used a bribe on Freeport 4, so I don't know who actually has the bribe for the Hackers there, but if the Hacker himself has the bribe for the faction, you can either use the kill Xenos way or look for another place for the bribe.
