Whats up everybody? Need a little help. I've looked everywhere, but haven't found this Champion shield I keep hearing about. Is is buyable? Is it only a drop? I appreciate any help on this.
From what I've seen and experienced is the lvl 10 Champion shield is in the game files, and some factions run with it, but it's not buyable anywhere. And since ships don't ever drop shields when you kill them, You can't get 'em without modding. The highest class shields you can buy are the Adv. Brigandine Shields, which are class 10.
Champion and Adv. Champion Shields are lvl 9 and 10 Graviton shields respectively. They are defined in the game .ini files.
However, no shop sells them, and ships never drop shields (because they're really using some other shield type..but that's another matter altogether). So bottom line is that there is no way to get Adv. Champion Shields in the game unless you mod your files.
FYI, the maximum level Graviton Shield you can get in the game is the Lvl 8 Adv. Protector Shield. However, you cannot buy it in any store...I'll leave it up to you to discover how you can get one.
For Molecular Shields, it's Lvl 9 (Bulwark Shield, I think), and for Positron Shields, lvl 10 (mentioned above). These latter ones you can buy in shops...if you can find the right shops.

In MP, shield components never drop. The highest purchasable shield is the Adv. Brigandine, a level 10 on Planet Crete a number of other bases (including Leon, Tripoli, and Malta, I think).
I believe the level 8 Graviton shield comes on a ship you buy, though I'm not sure which ship. There's no real reason to get one, though. At those high levels, chances are you will be gong against classless weapons (the cl10 weaponry doesn't seem to be classified as particle, neutron, tachyon, etc.), so the shield with the highest health is best.

Yes, it does have a recharge rate of one, because it is an NPC only shield, and all NPC shields have recharge of one. That is why they never regenerate when you're fighting them.

Another plus is that the most dangerous pirate groups , the Outcasts and Corsairs, use Neutron and Tachyon weapons, against which the Positron shield is particularly effective.
cl8 graviton, cl9 molecular, and cl10 positron shields are the only ones avail in non-moded games. If you can salvage a shield from a destroyed opponent then you are playing a mod. But would love a cl10 graviton shield for some good bounty hunter protection
