I am stuck in the Dyson sphere! How do you destroy the satellites without being killed!
whats a Dyson Sphere and whats the point killing satelites?

Dyson sphere is something some crazy dude made up. Its a big spherical object that is intended to hold inside a star system with the sun and all the planets. Its believed that the walls of the sphere will soak up the suns energy and do weird crazy stuff like that. Of course this is theoretical and in no way exists.
In the game, the "dyson sphere" is the thing the nomads have built around their homeworld in the last mission where you have to kill all the nomads!! WOOT!!! Of course your killing them when they are about 5x easier to kill and weaker than normal. Oh well, its still kinda fun.
*I hate my old signature, so I changed it...to this*

You DO know that the Dyson sphere was actually in one of the Star Trek: The Next Generation Episodes where they find scotty suspended in an Transporter beam. A dyson sphere is an actually thery-ish thing too. Made up by some guy with the name Dyson in his...er name. And its Thereticlly it should house a star and maybe a whole god damned solar system ( i forogt what it said). Anyway the plotline for scotty in the thing is that he was on a transport to a retirement colony. They crash on the sphere, he suspends himself somehow in teh transporter beam. Annoys allt eh enterprise crew. And leaves at the end. Theres more to it than that. But i would like to point out that if Freelancer is sued for it. You know why.
Freeman Dyson postulated this theory in 1959 that the sun's energy could be harnessed for all manner of things if a sphere with a diameter of the Earth's orbit could be constructed around the sun. People could live on the underside, facing the sun with a limitless power supply, that being, again, the sun. So no worries about copyright infringement, it's a valid theory that Star Trek stole first.
Well, I was not totally correct, Freeman Dyson's first theory was to place solar energy collectors in a sphere the size of the earth's orbit to get energy for a planet, not a completely enclosed sphere, the other way actually a misnomer that many people have taken for granted.
The difficult we do immediately; the impossible just takes longer.

The Dyson Sphere...
I think it was something dreamt up by some guy named Freeman Dyson, who theorized that if an advanced civilization's home star system is fast becoming uninhabitable because its sun is burning out (turning into a dim red dwarf), the civilization might be able to save itself if it built a huge sphere to enclose the entire solar system to trap in the dim star's light and heat.
Personally I think that's a ludicrous idea. If a civilization is advanced enough to build a superhuge space sphere that can enclose a whole solar system, they should be at the level of technology where they can travel either light speed or FTL, and find themselves another more suitable star system to transplant their civilization. That sounds to me like a much more economical option.

Well, The Sphere's existance in FL makes sense if you think about it. The most likely explanation it the Hypergates. The most feasable theory I've ever heard for faster-than-light travel was called "Quantum Tunneling." Basically, you use this massive ... thingy (I can't describe it well enough to bother) similar to a particle accelerator to fire off an incredibly energetic particle which leaves a huge wake of energy. The theory is that this particle would leave a huge subspace "trough" behind it which a ship would be drafted along in.
((For those who don't know, drafting is a technique used often by professional racers. The idea is to drive along immediately behind the car in front of you - the front car creates a low-pressure zone in its wake which the trailing cars can easily drive through - this results in improved fuel efficiency and requires far less work to be done by the trailing car. In this case, the particle would leave a subspace vacuum in its wake which would allow a ship to accelerate to near or beyond light speed under the power of its conventional engines. The ship would be helped to reach this speed by matter rushing to fill the void left by the particle.))
The theory seems to fit into the FL universe as well. As far as I understand it, Trade Lanes are just very low-tech versions of this tunneling - they create a tunnel which allows a ships conventiona engines to accelerate it to many times its normal maximum speed.
Anyways, back to the sphere - assuming the Hypergates work along these principles, they would require a MASSIVE amount of energy to use. Imbuing the particle with enough energy to create this trough for any real distance would take more energy than the whole of our Earth over many years. The only power source we know of which could even begin to supply the massive requirements of this sort of system would be...a star. Thence it becomes necessary to harvest ALL the energy put off by a star - enter the Dyson Sphere. This power would be sent back to the Gate at almost inconcevable amperage.
Since I know someone will probably say this, the Nomad base would still require generators (like the ones you have to destroy). This would be because the amperage of the power being recieved from the Sphere would be utterly unusable for conventional means. A suitable analogy would be like trying to get ALL the snow in an avalanche to go through the eye of a needle. You just can't control the avalanche enough to do it. Even if you could, the resulting back-ups in the system would completely overload whatever measures you had in place.
Also, I would have to say that it's obvious those little weenie power generators didn't power the Hypergate. Remember, after you destroy them all, the Hypergate STILL activates...because it's getting its power from the Sphere.

Hey, if a really advanced civilization finds their home system in peril because their sun is aging I would save the home system and a symbol, a beacon, and to keep its historical value!

Can you imagine enclosing the sun in a sphere the size of the earths orbit with the human race living on the top of the inside surface?? If you look closely at the texture of the space surrounding the last level it appears that this is what the nomands have done. Take a look the the screenshot!
The land mass of such a sphere would be enough to sustain trillions upon trillions of people!!!
