No, I'm refering to buyable ships. and yes thats the point to be more agile with less armor but the same shields. The VHF ships are all sluggs. Think about it, there are light fighters in the game that are far better than some of the HFs. This is the same thing, just at the higher levels.

The "Heavy" and "Very Heavy" does not only mean a stronger hull and power rating..it also means the capability to mount stronger more powerful weaponry...therefore a "Light" fighter capable of mounting "Heavy" weaponry wouldn't really make that much sense....you are basically sacrificing maneuverability for the ability to have heavier weaponry and hull! Also, I DO agree with the bajillion people who talk about how there should be speed differences!

So it should be sacrificing speed and maneuverability for heavy weapons and stronger hull. There should also be speed and more noticeable maneuverability differences BETWEEN the ships in the classes...there should be a faster VHF than the other VHF but still a helluva lot slower than the fastest LF..and so on

Ahhh, But look at the Defender (HF) vs the Hawk (LF). in your theroy the Defender, being a hevy fighter, should be able to carry better wepons than the Hawk. That is not the case. The Hawk is more manuverable and has better wepons, armor and shields. It seems the main advantage of a heavier ship is the AMOUNT of wepons, not the lvl of wepons. You can see that in many examples throughout the game.

No need for that. And I just looked at the ship stats, and it does seem that while most heavier ships are stronger than their lighter competition, there are several that overlap. So the best LF's are stronger than the worst HF's, and the same with HF's and VHF's. But ALL HF's can carry more guns than LF's, and ALL VHF's can carry more guns than HF's.
