Uh....you should be able to just fly around the sun right to it, dopey. If you're coming from Omicron Alpha, it's a straight shot to the middle/top of the system almost...

You're having trouble getting to the wreck for the simple reason
that the Griffin is NOT the unknown object in the middle of the two
stars in the system.

Yes! I've seen this too. I'm glad it's not just me...

When you're about 2K away from the star, it's about 4K away, and you can't get much less than 2K towards the star without burning up.

Now for the wacky bit. What ever direction you approach the star, it seems that the Unknown Object is in the center of the star, 2K further away than the star is !

I've tried all sides, and over, and under, without luck. I tried flying 10K towards the medium yellow, and back again to get my head cleared and some fresh bearings. Still no luck.

Can anyone hack the data files to work out what this is?!

After visitin Tau37 to check out the wreck myself I concluded the following.
You nonces are actually seeing that sun as object unknown and that is what it is, no flying into it is gonna do nothing but get you burnt alive along with your ship and precious cargo.

Try fly around the sun, and go to the north of the map to co-ordinates E2 (note: NOT THE CENTRE OF THE BURNING SUNS AND STARS)

There's a jumphole to omicron alpha nearby and just above it you shall find your precious griffin and it's worthless dark blossom. (note: NOT THE CENTRE OF THE BURNING SUNS AND STARS)

Rather surprisingly the only obstacle you have to avoid to get it is a rock, which the ship appears to be embedded in.

hehe a bit ott but I'm just rolling around the floor laughing cus you didn't select object unknown and notice the box around the burning sun/star denoting that it is in fact NOT the griffin wreck
