Dromedary=best frieghter??
If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Is there really a better frieghter then the dromedary cargo space and equipment wise??
I used the Humpie for a long time and only recently tried the Dromeday... whoa, does it turn easier or what? (It's SO annoying when the Humpie gets locked into one of those "can't dock cuz I can't ever turn fast enough for the autopilot" dances.)
I generally just RUN when attacked in a freighter, and the Drom makes up for its lack of armor by being a little better at avoiding hits, if you ask me. (It's a little more agile at corkscrewing while fleeing.)

I consider the Dromedary the best freighter for shuttling cargo from point A to point B and runing from all danger as fast as possible in-between.
As for pirating, I would go with a fully tricked out Humpback or Titan. Humpback is much more robust if you want to fire at anything and battle at all in turret mode. Drom is purely for cash runs as it gets cutdown like a hot knife through butter in any tough system or opponents

I find the Dromedary pretty handy as an aggressive trader and exploration vessel; IMO it handles sufficiently better than the Humpback to hold its own in dogfights with a reasonable number of enemies.
CW's modded Dromedary sounds interesting. I wish I had the time (and talent) to modify mine...it would be nice to have better weapons and shields (and the power to run them effectively), to be able to use the Sunslayer torpedo launcher and Cannonball missile launcher I acquired when flying a Sabre, and to use what appear to be extra hardpoints at the front edge of the "keel" portion of the ship, either for the launchers mentioned or for extra guns.
I've looked around in the editing forum, but much of the info there is too arcane or assumes knowledge I lack. Since I can only get to an appropriate--for playing OR modding--PC on weekends, trial and error experimentation isn't really a very viable option.
If someone were to post or email me instructions on how to do the above, I'd certainly appreciate it; otherwise I'll have to wait for summer vacation to learn how to do it myself.

It's a matter of taste which freighter you use, I guess; each seems to have its fans. I've tried them all, though, and wouldn't consider changing from a Dromedary to another freighter. It has the largest hold space and is more maeuverable than the others, looks better--IMO, of course--and can put up a better fight if necessary, although it can't take as much punishment as the Humpback. I didn't find the Drone significantly more maneuverable than the Dromedary, and the extra hold space makes for a more favorable tradeoff, IMO. I don't recall how the two compare firepower-wise, but I went back to the Dromedary after first flying it, then the other freighters.
I think it really comes down to how you prefer playing. I'm playing an aggressive trader/explorer with the Dromedary, and I think it's better fitted for that role than the other freighters are. If I were willing to go into cruise and run every time I were accosted, or use the turrets while beating a "strategic retreat", I might prefer either the Humpback or the Drone; I personally find the Drone ugly, though, and think the Humpback has better survivability in that style of play. Since I'd rather respond to "drop your cargo" demands with gunfire, and only retreat from really overwhelming odds, I much prefer the Dromedary. YMMV.
It's certainly easier to acquire the Drone, reputation-wise. You might want to try the Drone out but keep your reputation good with the Lane Hackers, so you can trade the Drone in on the Dromedary again, just in case.

I prefer the drom. to any other freighter, at least for the way I play. First of all, you get that extra cargo capacity, so you can make more money. Second, it maneuvers better than the lousy h-back, so you can escape better. When I play the trader, I don't care about fighting or destroying enemies, I just wanna make my money, so I want the ship that can get me the most money and get me away from the pirates quick. That's the dromedary.
