level 10 guns and the lack of level 10 mounts

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

level 10 guns and the lack of level 10 mounts

i have 2 nomad energy cannons, 2 nomad energy blaster and 2 WILD FIRE's
im using the wild fires and the cannons at the moment but would it be wxise to sell the wild fire's and use the blasters
im going on active nomad gun

Go with the nomads. if you're in SP, keep the lvl 10 weaps as you can't get them back if you sell them. If you're in MP, you might want to sell them as you will lose them when you die.

What is everyone's opinion of the best lvl 10 guns?

Post Sun Apr 06, 2003 10:09 pm

Technically, in terms of raw damage output per shot, the Cerberus and Diamondback are "the best", but in terms of damage OVER TIME (one second of sustained firing), Nomad blasters and cannons have the edge. If you take energy efficiency (power drain per salvo) into account as well, Nomad cannons and blasters are tied for first place, followed by the Cerberus and Diamondback in second and third respectively.

I am MP right now with 2 Tizona Del Cids and 4 Nomad Blasters, and this seems to be the most effective combination I've found so far. Although I prefer faster weapons (they only move at 600 m/s), the damage combination cant be beat. I shreddded a loaded Sabre the other day in what appeared to be 4 shots.

If you're going to use maxium damage as the criteria for "best", the Diamondback and Cerberus (which are statistically identical) do the most; however, they are just average in turning weapon energy into damage. The Wild Fire do a bit less damage, but are considerably more efficient. And when you're not talking about Nomad guns, efficient use of weapon energy can be an important issue in protracted multi-ship engagements.

Apart from several special weapons, most distort your focus towards targetting, didn't like them much.

I find the chain-gun (least visual shiny effects) seem to be the most effective towards puting your enemy ships dive in flame. Well, I prefer that than visual ^_^

... Well, I did sometimes put several Archangle, Blood-something, etc... but I group them just whenever I feel bored with SkyBlastB.

Use 2 Tiazina El cid, 2 Wild Fire, 2 nomad cannon whatever, you should have a devastating burst for about 10 seconds or more. A sunslayer torpedo is just for cosmetic purposes. This only apply to VHF. I'm going to see the best config for freighter soon...

Don't kid yourselves, guys. Multiply out the firing rate and you'll see the damage on the nomads are clearly superior to the "unique" weapons. The uniques are merely for novelty's sake. I can't quite support this logically, but I believe the best set up is to mix both cannons and blasters (they have inconsistent firing rates) to get a faster perceived firing rate, which is good as tracer fire, if nothing else.

I disagree with the logic that non-Nomad Level 10s are novelty. I used to think that because the stats would prove that to be true. Technically, the nomad guns are the best in the game. But since the difference is slight, what type of level 10 guns you pick would really depend on the kind of player you are... and the type of situations you get yourself into.

Config A
if you like to fight great odds or are just trigger happy or a lousy shot, go with 2 TDC and 4 NB/NC .... endless stream of firing.

Config B
If you are not nuts or trigger happy, but still like to face greater odds with some finesse and accuracy, 2 TDC, 2 NC/NB, 2 WF

Config C
If you are the kind who fights only one on one and likes to shoot only when he can see the whites of his enemy's eyes (metaphoric!)...take 2 TDC, 4 DB/C/WF (go with WF if your shot aint that good )

The differences in damage are slight, but you will find the different energy drains very drastic! From unlimited shots to very limited! Of course, there are a lot of in between configs (2TDC,2NB,2DB / 2TDC,2WF,2DB / etc)

For those who choose to use non-nomad level 10 weapons like myself, a tip to lengthen firing time is to De-Activate the TDC once the enemy's shields are wasted! If they recharge, re-activate those TDC

simple yet effective ...

FYI, the config i use - 2 TCD, 2WF, 2DB

Legend:
TDC - Tizona Del Cid
NC - Nomad Cannon
NB - Nomad Blaster
DB - Diamond Back
C - Cerebus
WF - WildFire

hey ran,

ive found that the most effective layout is one that matches up all ur weapons so that u land all the hits on your target together at the same time. i use 2 c9 salamanca mkII's with 4 nomad blasters. they have the same fire rate, and the same speed. if you are usin 2 blasters and 2 cannons only 2 of your hits are hitting the target at a time while 2 of your hits trail right behind. however since the dmg is diff with the 2 guns it may even itself out, im not sure. in my experience tho, i bring a target down the quickest this way. lemme know ur experience!! thx

Diamondback is my favorite...nothing quite beats seeing those chunky ringed beams of death firing...

I haven't gotten any nomads to drop guns yet, despite being 38 with just about maxed out equipment...not that I care, since the nomad guns really aren't needed, but trying them wouldn't be a bad thing.

I have found that some of the class 10s DO regenerate in SP...I've looted the Viking wreck by the Hispania three times already, walking away with 6 Wild Fires...The only ones that don't seem to come back for me are the Diamondbacks and Jades(which I sold because Wild Fires beat them and regenerate)

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Uh, the Viking drops the Prometheus guns. It's the Pathfinder in Omicron Beta that drops the Wild Fire guns. There is a setting on the wrecks in the star system .ini files for whether the game should "remember" that you have already looted the wreck; and for whatever reason (probably an oversight), all the wrecks in Omicron Beta have the setting such that you can loot them over and over. BTW, this is also the case with all the wrecks in Omega-7.

after reading all the posts here i could not let go of showing my setup that has served me well all the time

it gives me awsome fireing power with virtually no energy usage

1. Wyrm 2
2. Wyrm 2
3. Nomad Cannon
4. Nomad Cannon
5. Nomad Cannon
6. Nomad Cannon
7. Salamace Turret

and yes i am flying a sabre and thus have 7 forward facing guns
I prefer the sabre over the titan because it has a better turn ratio and well just plainly looks cooler

Post Wed Apr 09, 2003 7:57 pm

hello,

thats probably the best setup in the game corwin. by best i would mean most deadly. the wyrms match up with the cannons in their fire rate and speed, landing all the hits (big ones ill add) on the target at the same time. maximum dmg!! this my friends would be the "uber" layout. but then again there is also a certain amount of personal preference with setting up a weapon layout. my preference would be to do the most dmg in the most effective way possible, this would be it!! thx corwin!
