If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Do the wrecks you find replenish the things they give you? If someone beats you to a wreck and takes the cargo can you go back later....and if so how long do you have to wait?
"Okay, here's what's going on..."
Wrecks respawn after seven days (or so I'm told, I've never bothered to verify that). A server crash will replenish their cargo as well.
But, there's a catch. Whenever you loot a wreck, the server will flag your character file, so you can't empty derelicts you've visited before.

...if that's true, how can this complaint make any sense at all?
For those reluctant to click the link: it's a complaint about a player who makes his money harvesting from wrecks. The complaint goes along the lines of accusing the player in question of denying the contents of wrecks to players who need the contents. Now if your character can only harvest any particular wreck once, how could anyone even begin to complain when you make your one-time-only harvest?

"Sorry Nephilim but that is utterly untrue, I have looted some wrecks over 10 times on the Elite server, it does *not* flag your character"

Well, I'm only speaking from personal experience here. I've been to the Diamondback derelict in Sigma-13 (which I had looted once, but I died before I got a chance to mount the DBs) several times, and its weapons incinerated during each & every visit that I payed the thing...

That's strange...for me, it's the exact opposite...lvl 10 weapons respawn after

my own private LAN server, so I don't know if making it public would affect
the settings.
To give you an example from personal experience: In Omega-41, there are 2
wrecks, the Volsung and Independence. The Volsung yields 2 ARCHANGELS
(pretty good lvl 10 guns) and 10 Paralyzer missles (no launcher, though), and
the Independence has some civilivian laser weaps (can't remember exactly
what -- but definitely some were below lvl 8 ), and 20 Diamonds
I looted both of them, but got careless and got myself killed before being
able to get back to Cadiz. When I respawned, just as I expected, both
wrecks were empty.
Not a problem, I thought, and I rebooted the server. I logged back in,, and
tried to loot both wrecks again. The Independence yielded zippo. The
Volsung gave me only the 2 ARCHANGELs. Notice that the paralyzer missiles
are gone! I got killed once more (hint: never check your inventory when
flying through a minefield. ) and was able to get my 2 ARCHANGELs
again, but nothing else.
Then, I started a new character, and eventually got around to looting the
two wrecks...and with this new character, I was able to get the original
loot as described above.
From that, I can only draw two possible conclusions.
1) Nothing respawns even after reboot, unless it's a level 10 weapon
2) Nothing respawns after reboot period, unless you've lost your lvl
10 weapons through some mishap, in which case it will give you only the
lvl 10 weapons again.
I was thinking Option 1 was what was happening, but after reading this
thread (and the link), I'm inclined to think maybe Option 2 is really what's
going on after all.
My 2 cents,

Well I can say that after raiding several wrecks containing lvl 10 weapons etc, they DONT respawn for me. However smaller wrecks with equipment less than lvl 8 DO seem to respawn after server resets or several days.

This is something I have been able to deduce using the game data and some testing. There is a setting on wrecks in the .ini files for the various systems called "visit". This value is usually 16, but all of the wrecks in Omicron Beta and Omega-7 have a value of 0, and these wrecks can be looted repeatedly. Just exit the system and come back, or dock at a local base and go back out, and they're ready to be looted again. I suspect the 0 value on these wrecks is an oversight, rather than intentional; however, the normal behavior of wrecks is to flag your user profile indicating that you have "visited" a wreck already. This is shown by making "visit = 0" on the wrecks in a system, and those wrecks won't drop their loot if you've already looted them; but if you haven't already looted them, they start dropping their loot repeatedly, because the game no longer flags your profile due to the setting on the wreck.
This part is just a theory. The flag for a particular wreck in the player profile may have a "timeout", meaning it will clear after awhile, allowing the wreck to be looted again. It may also be the case that attempting to loot a wreck will restart the clock, even when you get nothing. This would explain why wrecks do respawn their loot, but it can seem like they don't: you have to wait. I don't know how long this timeout might be, but I've read other posts saying it's a week (I assume that's real-time, and not game-time).
As for MP games, I think the server has an internal flag for the wrecks, which it will "pass on" to anyone attempting to loot them; so the looting of one player can affect the looting of another. But restarting the server only resets its internal flag; and once a player has the "visited" flag in their profile, the game will go by that. Thus, restarting the server only helps a player that hasn't already tried to loot a wreck.

interesting, i haven't noticed wreck loots respawning, but have noticed their health filling back up to full after landing and re-launching into space.. noticed this with the nomad area wrecks, i would tag the ships i checked by shooting down their health to min, but when i came back they were all back to full health again.. strange
