I. Hate. Bounty Hunters. So. Friggin''. Much.

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

I. Hate. Bounty Hunters. So. Friggin''. Much.

Ok, I'm getting sick of being chased by bounty hunters everywhere I go. No matter how high I get my rep with them, every single time I complete a storyline mission it plummets back down to hostile and every single friggin' time I dock at a friggin' ship or friggin' base or friggin' planet when I try to leave there are at least a dozen of the little punks swarming all over me and keeping me from leaving until I take a damn hour to kill all over them and waste all my nanites and shield recharges doing so, and for NOTHING. No good loot, no good money, nothing but wasted supplies that I will have to replenish at $200 a pop and it's EVERY TIME I GO ANYWHERE. Why the hell does this keep happening and how the hell do I make it STOP? I am so sick of this I'm about an inch away from uninstalling the game and forgetting about playing the rest of it.

Don't bother fixing your rep with anyone during the SP campaign, it keeps getting reset. Also where exactly are you in the campaign? If I'm not mistaken, once you get to Leeds (after mission 4) your ship is "tagged", i.e. you should get rid of it and the Bounty Hunters should become neutral.

Although they're a pretty widespread guild, they're certainly not everywhere. Don't hang around the bases where you say you get attacked by them often. Don't fight, run. Use afterburners or cruise. There's no reason you have to waste a ton of shield batteries.

I had no issues with them after I changed ship in Bretonia, and I don't remember the SP campaign resetting them. But then again I just blazed through the campaign without trying to trade/explore, just by doing those boring random missions over and over until I leveled-up and could continue with the SP missions. In fact, they ended up liking me quite a bit since I did a ton of missions for the local law enforcement.

I already switched ships once to get them off my back...did so right after I first entered Bretonia. And it worked for a while and I built my rep with them back up to the highest it could go, but then I did the next storyline mission and they dropped back to hostile. It's infuriating. I'd like to be able to explore without twelve tiny ships jumping me every single time I enter/exit a ship/base/station/planet/jumpgate/travel lane. And I can't just run past them because they ALL have an infinite supply of cruise disruptors.

I recommend that you cheat until the missions are over. Then you can go back to normal play. Edit you "PerfOptions.ini" file. Change DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 1.00 to DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.00. Voila! No more shield bats or nanos to worry about. You are bullet proof except for Planets. If you run into a planet without a docking ring you are toast as this cheat doesn't make you "completely" invulnerable.
Hope this helps.

Cheating kinda makes half the missions worthless...

It gets boring if you cheat, my advice is, just run. Once you get off a planet, use the Trade Lanes.

Besides, in a few missions you HAVE to take damage at some point, or you dont advance.

If your ahving problems with Bounty Hunters, just do missions for any of the house police's and you will go up with the bounty hunter faction. Also... dont shoot bounty hunters if they shoot you, it just lowers the faction even more.

Blah no need to cheat... I never really had a problem with the Bounty hunters after I switched ships. Not long after that the game got so crazy that I never really had to worry about them, it was always something else. Just get a decent ship to fly around until you can get the Anubis... once you have that you are maxed out until you are done the single player missions anyway.

If they are all over you I would go to another system and let them calm down

Yeah, don't bother with fixing your rep at all in SP since it'll just get reset anyway, and I can't say I'd cheat if I were you. It's not an accomplishment to finish if you cheated to do it. You'll be too busy to notice that the BH's hate you soon anyway.

Friggin friggin frig!

I killed alot of bounty hunters during SP. So I had them hostile all the time (this happens anyways) but I had good Rep with the bad guys. So I was never alone against them. In most cases the mollys, Corsairs, whatever killed those bounty hunters for me.

I think in SP it is better to be a pirat, because the reputation for navy, police, Bounty Hunters is reset after each mission. The Reputation of the Corsairs, Hessians, Gaians is not reset before the end of the campaign.

First time through I did quite a few bounty hunter missions, then after liberty they went red for a bit, untill I swaped ships. Then they were slightly hate side of neutral. Again, a little later on in the plot line they briefly went red again, and stayed neutral throughout the sp after that.

Bounty hunters suck Donkey kidneys.

I chisled my way in with the Corsairs, Red Hessians, and the Outcasts. The entirety of the criminal world was at my disposal. Stupid Bounty hunters. Every system load, every time I leave a station, everytime I exit a trade lane. For 4.5 hours of gameplay saturday, everytime I undocked, loaded system or did anything of the nature, me and my eagle were fighting off a complete a$$load of BHs. Stupid. This should be fixed in the game. You should at least have some freedom of movement. I mean I'm in the Border Worlds for Crying out loud at a Corsair base 5 jumps from the nearest friendly port and 8 friggin BHs are going to magically appear every time I undock?!? ya, right.

I killed well over 200 before I quit counting. They dropped lots of guns and consumer goods and I made a fortune selling the crap. However, the sheer volume of the attacks and the stupid nature of never being able to move without them I finally sacrificed some of badness and bribed them off. Now i'm a bit less popular with the crooks, but can at least stop off at base for a beer for 10 minutes without the entire local sector filling up with BHs.

Damn you Boba Fet. Damn you to hell. ;p

hehe

yep those suckers will turn hostile on you if you get friendly with what seems to be 2 or more criminal factions.. im completely friendly with corsairs and near hostile for outcasts, if i try to get outcasts friendly, that automatically turns bounty hunters hostile. sucks.

Post Tue Apr 01, 2003 5:26 pm

If you want it all. All the criminal factions (well most) and the bounty hunters do what I did.

I fought for bribed the Corsairs at Freeport (something or other) and then went to Crete and fought for them out there and Tripoli. Made a TON of money doing 130 to 150k missions (all killing bounty hunters).

Did enough that I was eventually able to bribe the Hessians and the Outcasts to green. Doing so hurt my Corsairs faction if I remember correctly, but I was WAY green with them so still in the green after.

Then got sick of bounty hunters so bribed them. Now I'm Green to Corsairs, Outcasts and light green to hessians. and solid Green to bounty hunters.

You can make some SERIOUSLY fat trade runs when you don't have to worry about pirates. LOL I love running all the contraband. Anyway back to my honest living LOL.

Ok, just imagine it from the bounty hunter point of view. Here I am with a few of my friends in the best ship my guild makes, just minding my own business when, BAM! Some freelancer pops in flying one of them big Sabre's/Titans/Eagles decked out with class 10 weapons and using nanos/batteries (seems I forgot to buy them, again).

I hear my wingman say "I am targeting Freelancer 1-1-2-3-9-1-4......" as they turn and charge him. I scan his ship and respond with "He's to powerful, I'm bugging out" turn tail and start heading for the jumphole/nearest base. Just when I think I'm safe this freelancer rams a wasp/hornet cruise disruptor up my ships backside then turns my ship to space dust. As I drift through the blackness of space in my escape capsule, I again put "Buy nano's/batteries next time" on my things to do in port list.

So the next time you get upset at the bounty hunters, just think what type of a day they are having.

Just imagine if in Multiplay how upset you would be if you and 7 wingmen got wasted by a single bounty hunter.

Anywho, yep, they can be a pain at times.

I remember the Bounty Hunters were the first to try to screw me over in the SP missions... for that reason now I relish hunting them down and blowing them up and taking all their things. They are good prey though because even with a level 10 shield they can take you down pretty quick if you are unlucky... at least out in the border worlds where they are more powerful.
