Best Trade Routes

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Best Trade Routes

Hi freelancers,
you're new here ? no just kidding.

Well once you finished the campaign, perhaps you'll be looking
for money in order to upgrade your ship, weapon, shield etc...
And to level UP...

Here is my advices and a table of the best Trade Routes I found.
Here is the link to the table :
TradeRoutes
- first make a few money with "houseclearing" missions
- Keep the Order Very Heavy Fighter (Anubis) you have at the end
of the campaign for the moment.
- Try to load expansive stuff like diamonds, consumer luxury goods etc...
- Make two or three trades like berlin / new tokyo (refere to table)
- Download a big complete MAP
You'll soon have enough money to buy a real freighter.
I choosed the Humpback (250 cargo for 170.000$, located in New Berlin)

Make some deals again, and you'll soon be rich.
As your freighter is not very good for fight, if you're followed,
run forest, run ! And if there's a planet near you, turn around,
usually the bad guyz will fail following you and you will be able
to start your cruise engines again.

I had a look through your list of trade routes, and thought I'd mention a few higher earning but more dangerous ones.

The top scorer: Hauling Alien Organisms from Ruiz Base (Omicron Beta) all the way back to California Minor. They are perishable, but they only cost $100 and sell for $2000, a massive $1900 profit a go. In a well armed Dromedary you would lose, an over the top guess of 25, during the trip. 275x100 = $27,500 cost, 250x2000 = $500,000 pay, profit of at least $472,500.

This one might not look like a good earner, but it pays both ways and could certainly help those Outcasts rule Sirius Cart Cardamine from Malta to Manhattan nets you $1200 profit each, and Light Arms from Detroit Munitions to Malta earns you $1260 profit each. Not perishable either, but you need to be on good terms with those pesky Outcasts. That'll be $150,000 at Freeport 5 in Tau 29.

And finally, if you want a shorter route you can try the recommended Diamonds route between Rheinland and Planet New Tokyo. Except don't get them from Berlin, Solarius Station (Daumann) in Omega 11 sells for only $219 vs. $396, and Freital Base (Hessian) also in Omega 11 sells at only $198. But then you've got to be willing to love those Rheinland pirates, is it worth it?

I hope that doesn't spoil finding the best trade runs for people, but none of those are exactly easy. Don't complain if you die in even a Dromedary doing them

I still think I found the best trade route in the game. I'm amazed that people keep quoting the New Berlin/New Tokyo route. Seeing as how I posted it in these forums previously, I'm also surprised that it's not listed in your DB.

*shrug*

Oh well.

Thank you VERY much. I have been looking for a map of the Freelancer systems...

Post Sat Mar 29, 2003 1:06 pm

Sorry Ether Dragon, this list can't be completely full...
There's some place I've not seen yet for exemple.

I choose to do that list to help newby and people looking
for a quite good trade list. And this launch a thread about
trade routes that will help others.

It's only a base and I wish to learn about your favorites
trade lines too. thanks to EddyB43 for his cool routes too,
mine are quite safe and I choosed not to trade with the outcasts,
pirates, red assinians etc... Usually we don't have a cool reputation
with those guyz.

And last but not least, the map from Kopikari is really very usefulll !

Good trade lancers.

I found a route that yields 2182 credits per item, so in a humpback, 562k. It's there and back, though.

Buy diamonds at planet New Berlin, sell at planet New Tokyo. Buy Niobium at planet New Tokyo, sell at The Ring (next to planet New Berlin). Only 4 system jumps 1 way, so 8 total, but you're back where you started. And it's not really too dangerous of a run. 2 runs and you're a millionaire.

Gotta factor in the initial investment as well, traders don't have that amount of cash early on in their careers.

Engine Components
Planet Honshu $150/-
Mactan Base Magellan $1,424/-
Dromedary 275 units

Initial cargo investment: $41,250/-
Net Profit: $350,350/-

While it's a long trip, the low investment and high returns makes it worthwhile for beginners. Besides, when the worst happens the loss is only $41,250/- worth of cargo.

Odd ive been trying this way and it takes so long is there any jump holes i should know about?

Maybe I'm just impatient, but I hate making really long runs. It takes forever and you don't always have a good return trip. I feel I could probably make several shorter, less profitable runs in the same amount of time and make equal or more money.

I found a decently short trip to be running Alien Organisms from Glasgow Outpost in Leeds to Cambridge Research Station. That'll get you about $162,000 on that trip. Then run diamonds back from Planet Cambridge to Planet Leeds for $108,900. That totals $270,900 (in a Dromidary).

Only New London is between Leeds and Cambridge, so it's quick. And if you can get the Leeds to Cambridge jumphole to work, maybe even quicker. Either way, I bet I can easily make two runs of that in the time it takes someone to get from New Berlin to New Tokyo.

how long do you need for that trip?

if its less than 13 minutes starting at cambridge and landing at cambridge, then the efficiency is similar to the new berlin => new tokyo trip.

Here's another trade route:

Jump Gate/Trade Lane Parts
Buy at Pueblo Station, Colorado at $140/- per unit
Sell at Tau-31 Gate Construction Site, Tau-23 at $1,400/- per unit

Dromedary 275 cargo units
Initial cargo Investment = $38,500/-
Net Profit = $346,500/-

Route Taken:
Colorado (Pueblo Station) -> New York -> California -> Magellan/Cortez -> Manchester -> New London -> Leeds -> Tau-31 -> Tau-23 (Tau-31 Gate Construction Site)

There's more...

On your way back to Colorado make a stop at the Kensington Shipping Platform (New London):

Beryllium
Buy at Kensington Shipping Platform, New London at $192/- per unit
Sell at Pueblo Station, Colorado at $1,020/- per unit

Dromedary 275 cargo units
Initial cargo Investment = $52,800/-
Net Profit = $227,700/-

Route Taken:
Tau-23 (Tau-31 Gate Construction Site) -> Tau-31 -> Leeds -> New London (Kensington Shipping Platform) -> Manchester -> Magellan/Cortez -> California -> New York -> Colorado (Pueblo Station)

Total Net Profit = $574,200/- for one round trip

The catch?

New London is a Cosair & Molly contested system
Tau-31 is a favorite hunting ground for Outcasts

You already bribed them didn't you? Or at least neutral with them?

Then again, NStriker's and gos_jim's trips are much faster...

The reason that I do long trips is that I like to take my time.

Whether it is a rep fixing exercise in Xenos airspace while in Colorado or dropping by at pirates/zoners bases while in transit for bribes and info, it makes the trip more interesting.

I found a good trade route in Kusari for people still in the campaign (I used it to save up a little money for equipment between missions) and for people just out that're relatively weak and shouldn't be hostile w/anyone in Kusari at this point. I bought Lux. Consumer goods at Roppongi Station (next to planet New Tokyo) and took them to Ainu, then brought Cardamine back. it gets you about 265000 round trip, no hostiles (the big selling point for me when I was in a weak ship); the only problem w/it is that it takes a high investment and there is no trade land from the jump gate to Ainu.
