Game over for me...

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Other than just exploring every little spot, there really is not much else. I played the sp line through a couple times, just trying to get the battleship tally high, only able to get to 4 so far hehe. Also branched 3 different char types from a sp completion. A lawful, Pirate, and one that just about kills everything in sight. flying a Eagle, Sabre, and Titan respectively. My connection speed out where I live is terrible so mp is not really an option for me.

But sadly, there is not much else to do. By useing a level system and setting it so low, most feel the game is pretty much over after 38.

I wouldnt worry about starting over in MP. It only takes 4 hours to get to lvl 38 if you know what you are doing

I waited five years for this game. Played it for about a week before getting bored.

Yet I still come by here almost everyday (force of habit????).

Being everybody's enemy is easy. But have you ever tried to get all the Factions "green" to you? It's not that easy. Worth trying though. So far, I could get 23 greens, 16 whites, and only 6 reds.

You can actually fly *inside* the Hispania?

What's in it?

What I want to know is, what else is there to do / see / find that would be interesting aside from what I've written above? Even if it's just some nice scenery, I'd love to still have something to do in this game! Any ideas?

Either

a) Multiplayer
b) Start modding.. playing with INI files.. change different things in FL universe. Keeps me going at least.

Got to agree there Sus.

To many flaws and annoyances to keep on playing. Got a 38th level charactor in SP & MP, done it legally and illigaly as Police and Pirate.

IF M$ release a patch that changes A LOT I might pick it up again. But for now I have gone back to I-War 2 for my Spacey games

Still come here every day though. I agree, must be habit or addictive.

I believe it's some kind of collective denial we're all on. I sincerely hope a patch or extension comes out, I think this game has a lot of potential but should have been at least 2 CDs, one them devoted entirely to cutscenes and SP mission-specific dialog and other stuff that would allow for at least twice the number of missions. As for the Hispania, in repsonse to the person who posted above, there's nothing inside the Hispania at all, but there are 3 or 4 holes that allow you to fly in and take shelter (not that you'd have to, since you probably got there with an eagle, sabre or titan) and watch the bad guys just sit outside waiting and scratching thair heads wondering about your sudden dissapearance. And it's pretty cool to fly inside it to - although I think DA should have put a MUCH bigger ship in there; it's way too small to be one of those HUGE sleeper ships we see in the intro.

Where is the Hispania exactly?

Thier illogical pride is a handicap on thier life expectancy

Post Fri Mar 28, 2003 11:34 am

The Hispania is at D7 Omicron Alpha - like many of the odd bits of FL it's kinda cool in a pointless sort of way; a tunnel runs the full length of it with a side entrance - but there's nothing to actually 'do'.

I agree that this game really needs an expansion pack asap. The engine is a good and beautiful thing but so many aspects of gameplay that were expected are missing. In some ways it's not even as sophisticated as Privateer 2 (which I'm going to try and reload again). And it's far too easy to progress to level 38 and 'complete'.

It's a great week's diversion but after the huge wait, we've still got to wait longer for a truly great open-ended space-sim. A for effort but C for content.

From what I heard, Chris Roberts, the brain behind the whole thing, bailed halfway through, at which point, MS Marketing decided how to make the game. Voila, we have what we have now.

Post Sat Mar 29, 2003 5:34 am

He bailed? Hmm... I was wondering why so many parts of the game felt like "not bad, but could be better". Reminds me of Peter Molyneux (sp?) and Bullfrog -- haven't heard a peep about new games from Bullfrog, and Molyneux's Studio Lionhead (Black & White, right?) didn't seem all that hot either.

Chris Roberts was bombarded with suggestions from MS Marketing that he said "Fine! YOU do it!" and walked. They did, and viola.
