Do you like any ships better than the eagle, sabre, and tita
If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Do you like any ships better than the eagle, sabre, and titan? Why? These are the three best ships in the game as far as most people are concernd. Do you think there are any lower lvl ships that perform better?
I'm not all that far in the game, but I don't like fighters at all now. I bought a freigher and tried my hand at that and withing minutes I was all about freighters. I hate running fighters now. I'm in a drone and REALLY REALLY want a dromedary, but I don't want to upset the cops to get in neutral with the hackers... so I'm just going to pilot a drone. In the Kysari system, no one hates me or overly likes me, so I never get attacked aside from the occasional corsair. Loving the trading aspect now.

Besides the Eagle my favorite fighter is the Anubis. Sleek, stylish, and really, really cheap! I also like the cruise engine effect, nice combination of red and blue, kinda hypnotizing at times. Anubis is why I fly now in mp. Had to do a little editing to pull that off, but I don't find it "wrong" to edit just to fly a ship in mp that is easily available in the sp storyline...
I like nearly any ship over those three. The only VHF I fly is the Hammerhead. Given the overwhelming firepower of the VHF's, however, I like playing in the lighter craft. I have one character in a Falcon, and another in a Legionaire.
I've yet to fight a VHF with a light fighter, but I've taken on as many as four Stilettos or Centurions at one time, giving me the impression that I could at least hold my own against a single VHF. The light fighters' maneuverability goes a long way towards protecting you - at least from the AI.
Stats are not my only concern when buying a ship, either. I've tried nearly every ship in the game, but I only stick with the ships that look good to me. The only ones that I consider worthy are the Hawk series, Pirhana series, Crusader, Legionaire, Dagger, and any freighter. I have reservations about the Hawk series. It's very aesthetic, but seems somehow generic. I feel like a sell out anytime I fly one. The Corsair ships are a mixed bag. I enjoy the Legionaire as long as I'm looking at it from behind. Anytime I see the ungainly cockpit that got slapped onto such a graceful frame, I cringe. The heavier versions lose their appeal with the excessive "finnage."

I haven't flown any of those yet and I probably won't for very long because it takes the challange out of the game. I really like the Anubis so far, also the Falcon and the Hammerhead. I really hope they do something with the lighter ships to make them more usefull. I think perhaps changing speeds of fighters would be a smart first step. Lighter ships have a higher top speed than faster ships and much better manuverability. The VHF are supposed to be like tanks but they are just as fast and manuverable as the light ships. Makes no point really to have a light ship when you get into the later reachs of the game except for the challange factor.
I did all my border and edge world exploring in a Banshee (Rheinland Light Fighter).
I really like that ship. The Hawk is a bit more attractive, but a Banshee equipped with a Class 7 Graviton shield and GMG guns (2 Sunblast A's, 2 Sunblast B's ) can do just about anything you need done.
I have completed several 200K+ fighter missions in a Banshee with that loadout, the largest one was 235K I think. It's maneuverable, and it has just enough offensive and defensive capability to handle the high level missions. It's hard as hell to get through those 3 wave missions with 6 VHF's per wave, but I've never been killed on a fighter mission, and it's a lot more satisfying to take them out in an LF than a VHF.
In my opinion, anything more powerful/effective than that is unnecessary in Freelancer.
