Yes. After the story is finished, the number shown where it states what is needed for the next level is how much more you have to get. Say you're at 100,000 credits. The next level box says '100,000'. Accumulate 50,000 and you'll see the box number shrinks to 50,000. Get another 50,000 (50,000 + 50,000 = 100,000 don't ya know) and you'll level up. A new figure will appear in the box, and the credits required will drop as you earn more.
I have a strange problem at level 38 that could be a glitch, in SP. I explored, I got to level 38, made a few million in trade. Saved a seperate game to become a pirate. BUt now, something mysterious has happened. It says, instead of saying that Level 38 is the maximum level, that I need a mission to level up. As if I was playing through the campaign again. And, as a result, every bar I go into - there are no jobs avaliable from the people. I click the job notice board, and it tells me to get to a higher level before missions are avaliable. Its as though I've just started the game, even though it still states that I'm level 38. Wierder still, its happened to both save games. Could be a virus, I don't know. Anyone else had a similar problem, tell me. I'm not looking forward to re-exploring the entire Sirius sector, seeking out every single jump hole, nebula and wreck. Took two days last time :S.
