What''s so special about Freeport 9?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

What''s so special about Freeport 9?

I've been reading several posts, and many people have mentioned ... something to the effect of ... "At least until you can get to Freeport 9", or "Once you get to Freeport 9, all your troubles are over", and stuff like that.

What's it all about?

Freeport 9 is located in Omicron Theta, is hard to get to if you're not friendly with the Corsairs and Outcasts, but sells a good ship (Eagle) and some Class 9 equipment.

How do you get to Omicron Theta? I mean, I know it is uncharted, but which system do you jump from to get to that area?

The only uncharted systems I have explored so far are The Tau systems between Bretonia and Kusari space.

Everything leads to freeport 9

its the rome of freelancer *g*

the center of the unknown space, with the best ship in the game, and an easy way to about any place in the known and unknown universe.

for a detailed map
klick here

most easy way with nearly no restance is over sigma.
but its aswell easy over tau or omega, though you meet there in the way at least some titans or sabres, which is over the sigma route only at the final stop in omicron theta the case (titans there)

Are the NPCs harder there or somthing? So far I can walk right through all the outcast/Corsair ships I meet. I have a loaded Falcon at level 24.

I can only assume I havnt maxed out the NPC level yet. The hardest ones I've gone against though are in the Tau systems by Bretonia space (forgot the exact system names), between Bretonia and Kusari space...and I can take out large groups of those with no trouble. Is it safe to assume the NPCs around Freeport 9 are harder? Also, will the base be hostile to me because Outcasts/Corsair's hate my guts?

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 12:24 am

The Corsairs run Centurians and Titans in that system which makes the pirates harder to fight.

To answer your second question, You should be able to dock there because the base is run by zoners, I think, anyway the corsairs hate me and I was able to dock there.

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 12:34 am

Yikes...the zoners dont like me either. Pretty much the entire criminal underworld despises me right now.

Ah well...I'm American. So I'll buy their love with Bribes. I really want that Eagle. Thanks for the help.

Is the Eagle that good? I thought the Corsair Titan is the best ship in the game?

The only difference with the two ships statistically -

EAGLE
Price - 558550
Bats/Bots - 63/63
Armor - 9900

TITAN
Price - 776380
Bats/Bots - 71
Armor - 12600

Has anyone flown both? Does the eagle handle better? Ive flown the Titan and its a bit slower to manouvre compared to a Heavy Fighter (Both Eagle and Titan are Very Heavy Fighters)

I know the Titan can equip Class 10 Shields. How bout the Eagle? Can anyone fill in the blanks. Thanks ;P

PS - You can bribe corsairs to like you on most of the freeports. Zoners? not sure where u can bribe them ....

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 5:32 am

Many perfer the eagle because of it's superior maneuverability.

Take a look at freighters vs. fighters. From the posted stats, freighters look superior ... nice weapons ... nice cargo ... nice shields and armor ... etc ...

But they move like pregnant yaks.

The Titan moves much better than a pregnant yak, of course ... but the eagle moves ... well ... like an eagle

I'm starting to prefer the Sabre over the Titan. Just now switched over.

The only difference from the Titan is 200 less hullplating (hey, if you're down that low and still didn't kill 10 enemies you're dead anyway), and the Titan carries 8 more nanos/batteries. However, the sabre has that nice forward mounted turret . Sometimes, even though you're equipped with a bunch of class 10 weapons, that extra level 9 turret that can shoot forward DOES help. I guess I also like it because of looks...the Titan is oooogly. The eagle looks better than the 3, but still want that forward mounted turret for some reason.

I'm with you, the Sabre is by far the BEST ship. Its easy on the eyes, has a useful turret (unlike the Titan), turns on a pin, and is cheaper!

Now if I could only get a Nomad turrent or something with a projectile speed of 600 for the turret......

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 8:22 am

So the sabre is the best bet then eh?... Great, now ive gotta get the stupid Hessians or Outcasts to like me! hehehe ...

Guess i gotta kill me some cops .... Time to die little piggies!!!

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 8:29 am

Yup sabre all the way, maneuvers good enough for any fight u'll end up in and carries the punch to make even human players think twice before trying to PK you. Not only that, but it's supreme advantage over the eagle or titan is that it's wings are small and its guns are spread over a wide area so that one lucky enemy shot can't knock all your guns off!

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 1:33 pm

I don't like Sabre exterior :-) And I use Eagle. Looks like this is the best LEGAL ship, because Sabre is Outcast's technology and Titan is Corsair's technology.
It was not very hard to land on Freeport 9 for me, because I birbed Zoners before and with Hammerhead that corsairs not so dangerous :-)

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 2:31 pm

I like the eagle best because it is the most maneuverable
