Drones - what R they good for?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Drones - what R they good for?

Hi

I'm playing the demo at the moment and really enjoying it. But I cannot really figure out the use of the seeker drones.

Do they just hang around and then blow up when any ship comes near? or do they wait for an enemy ship? or do they actively track enemy ships and 'seek' them out? If so do they seek out the enemy ship you have targeted or just the first one to come close to them?

Thanks for any help!

ps: does anyone know where I can find some decent turret weapons in the demo? I'm stuck with lavablade level 1's and justice II's?

You drop them and they head, in a limited way, for the closest target. That might as well be you, so stay away from them.

I also have to admit. That for a laugh when I was being attacked by about 20 Zoner Hammerheads. I released about 15 mines all at once to see what would happen. Keeping a close eye on my enemy ships list to see if they started to dissapear. But they just kept coming until I was history!

They were only the basic mines though. Maybe thats why they destoyed "0"

Don't release them so fast. The ones in behind will start moving before the next one, and they'll collide and explode harmlessly...

pixel - the Liberty Rogue turrets are far superior to the standard Navy turrets, you should check those out.

my main prob with the liberty rogue weps are their ugly firing anim.... i'd go for a stunpulse turret if i were u (or maybe 2 if u in a freighter) cus then u have 3-4 shot shield removal and dont have to worry about if they leave ur sight their shields regenerating. and in general, at least at first, the lavablades are the best weapon, dmg for enrgy/time, because sure, the 30 enrgy required looks scary, but the 79 dmg to shield and 154 to hull looks reaaallll tasty in a Lavablade Mk III.... and with 5 of them on a defender? SWEEEEEEET

(if ur in the demo, i highly recommend the worthless save files, beacuse then u can get enough money to buy the LBMk3s...)

Magma hammer beats lavablade.

Personally, I prefer the Barragers you can get from the junkers. Stunning fire rate, sweet fire animation, and they even LOOK like gattling guns.

But the best weapon available to you early on...Xenos scorpion. That gun owns every other weapon in Liberty space.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Thanks for the advice, but errrrm, I'm not sure where I can get any of that stuff?

I picked up some barragers in dogfights, and have used the stunpulse.

But for the others - don't I have to be level 2 for lavablade mk3? (in demo)

and how do I get to trade with the junkers etc? I know where their base is but don't know how to get on their good side to be able to dock without being blown up?

Thnx again for your help!!

Heh... recently had a rather amusive experience with mines. I was flying at ca. 70 (whatever speed unit is being used), with 3 pirates on my tail, then cut engines, turned around, and started dropping mines (while flying backwards). It was highly amusing to see the enemy ships trigger the big white energy ball, being instantly yanked to one side or another, though not much damage taken by it.

As I kept engines cut, moving with thrusters, I accidentally floated into one of my own mines. A second later, I was flying backwards through space in about 400 m/s, until I lost the mission by 'defecting'. Whatever, it was worth it.

The "homing" mines will travel the same speed as the normal top speed of any ship.

However, ships use afterburner sometimes, so hits are still not guaranteed.

They can cause a nice wallop to the enemy, especially a low-level enemy. They also throw off their aim. Unfortunately, it's really hard to see if they're doing any good

I generally use them in hard fights where I've got lots of laser beams coming my ass. Alternately you can use them in a head-on pass with a bad guy as they get very close. Also, you can use them against stationary targets if you're close.

I was using Driller mines by the end of the story. Those got pretty expensive
