Something wolfy will miss....

www.lancersreactor.com/t/test
the whole design of that. i can understand you moving over to dot net nuke...but did the whole original visual design plan have to change? i was really looking forward to that design. and the white on the current one doesn't really have the same kind of ambience of what TLR has now.
and I'll cry if www.lancersreactor.com/forum is completely scrapped...i looked forward to that more than anything else.

Isn't it refreshing to know you can come on a forum like this and complain as long as you don't break any rules doing so? Thankfully, that won't change either on the new site.

I must say that I really like the visual design of www.lancersreactor.com/t/test a lot better than http://www.lancersreactor.com/dnn. It's just the visuals- I am at least as excited as anybody else about y'all moving to DNN, and cannot wait to see what's going to happen in terms of the backend stuff, like better-organized mod downloads, etc.

But... visually, that page feels very cramped, and the bright white borders just aren't very inviting- I don't wanna stare at something that bright every time I come here, y'know? You've gotta keep in mind that readability and eyestrain are important parts of the experience....

Having worked with phpBB (a very close relative to DNN) before, I know it ain't that hard to change the graphics out, though... so maybe y'all can just enable some Themes, so that users who don't like the Stormtrooper White can pick something a lot more subdued. That'd be the way I'd do it- that way, everybody wins.

But I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again... that sidebar on the left needs a 100-pixel diet... it's waaaaaay larger than it needs to be. Doesn't matter what color it is- it's still too big for its own good...

i couldn't have put it better myself Argh (and i didn't)
i've also talked about this to a close friend of mine..well, because i talk to my friend about everything (chips might know him as Deadly_Ewok from freelancer) and he also agrees with me. and if i'm not mistaken, alot of people like the ambience of the black and grey with white text. (it's also a good thing for me, becasue black text on white is fuzzy on my monitor)

You know Deadly_Ewok? That guy RULES!!! Damn I miss him, unfortunately - having a job/life means that I am no longer on MSN at around 3am UK time... so i sadly never see him on at the same time as me

Wolfy - hopefully DNN will be completely and utterly changable (layout wise). From that, graphics could be removed, added, changed and more. The colour scheme should be included in that as well.

Say howdy to Ewok for me

I think a little update on things can't hurt I see.

OK, the whole DNN plan is off the table. It's still sitting on the server, but we won't go through with it. Also the 'new forums' as you can see on www.lancersreactor.com/forum is off the table. However, we WILL change a lot on the entire site and we WILL get new forums (we're working on both at the moment). Hopefully the latter can be done pretty soon, the rest of the plans will take a much longer time. Arcon is working on that as we speak and when there's something worthwhile to mention, we'll tell the community of course. For now it's hard work for Arcon and very time consuming, so you'll have to be a little patient for now.

Nudge - you know what, no information for anyone

Whats happening, what's going on? I know the forum software shown is more updated now (not the current forum, but if you look at http://www.instantasp.co.uk/Products/In ... Order.aspx you can see that they have top notch new versions and upgrade packages available if same software).

Cool stuff. I'd like to know whats going on with it too.

I'm not sure about that CMS or forum, but Media Wiki can share a database with phpBB (including most flavors of *nuke). Its mainly used for syncing user accounts but I think wiki links and article quotes can be used in the forum via special BBcode. Porting threads from forum to wiki is also possible. I know my suggestions for adding a wiki are more of an annoyance than a serious consideration but its something to keep in mind. If anyone is interested in that stuff I can take a look around for forum/wiki add-ons (its something I've been meaning to do anyway for Openlancer).

EDIT: Did some research on DNN and wiki's. MediaWiki won't work, the extension is based on the phpBB user account system and only works with CMS's that use that system. DNN does have its own wiki module but its not as well developed as MediaWiki. I saw a file management module that has revision control, could function as a sort of CVS. I haven't work with ASP based CMS packages before, didn't even know DNN existed before seeing this thread.

Interesting stuff, didn't know there was much of an open source community using IIS. I'll stick with LAMP based stuff myself.
