Neo - I understand your concern... I'm trying to work on the forums untill they get the same level of quality, that I expect out of a good working solution.

There are some options and things, that I have been missing from these forums... But remember: it is the people who make the community, not the tools!

nicely said!

it is what you give to the forum that counts, not what the forum gives you

so exactly when is this change going to happen then? and will it be all at once, so we wake up a to a new, radically different TLR, or will it be gradual, forum by forum? if that's a stoopid question you'll have to bear with me as I know jack about web coding stuff, I'm only a spanner-boy.

@Taw,

When we go, it'll be at once. So yes, at a point all of you will go to the forums, only to find out something completely different, although we try to be as faithful to the current TLR forums scheme as possible.

Do we have to register our nicknames again or will they be transferred?
And maybe it'll be fun to create a Fan Fiction sub forum or something

Keep up the good work guys!

All nicks and postings should be transferred for you all... Also all the old archived postings from all of the way back to the beginning of this site are back!

All nicks...

May I remind you there's only one Nick?

Seriously, is there any expected date or period in which we can expect this?
I don't wanna sound impatient, cause I'm not, I'm just wondering.

Edit: Just to annoy you

whats the point? it looks like every other forum on the face of the web

Dude (and this is to anyone), if you don't like it: don't visit them anymore!
But seriously: both Gibby and big E are working hard on the new lay-out and it's going to be the bomb. TLR has had the same lay-out for quite some time now, and change isn't bad.

Plus, think of all the new forum features...

Get over it ff, and stop expecting the worst.

Okay, to clarify, what is the size restrictions on avatars ?
I've already made some, and I don't want to be told that I have to resize them AGAIN !. (Even though it's not much work )

@ ff, if you go to halflife2.net, they have some pretty good forums there, even I signed up ( At least it's another forum as backup if the new forums here turn out to be crap .... )

Don't be so pessimistic Neo. Bargib did a great job on the curent one. Why would he not do as good if not better on the new one. Of what I have seen on them, they look very promising. Give them a chance to show it. I can't wait.

This is just going to be like moving cities, just a whole bunch of people at once. At first people wont like it and will complain. After awhile though people will be saying, "How did we ever live with the old forum layout, this is so much easier."
I think the new forums are looking great personally, the only thing that im worried about is avators. I never have been a fan of those things.

I agree with you Matt; in relation to both of your statements .

I HATE avatars. It may give people more freedom of representation of themselves, but they are both are unnessasary and look messy on a page. What do you do on a forum ? Read other people's posts. You don't look at other people's avatars all day long. Next thing you know attachments will be allowed, and then we'll get TLR known as a "Porn-Atachment Site", where Mustang and the other mods won't be able to stop the influx of n00bs posting attachments, and then, well, look at my quote above .....

My annoyance is based on over-crowdedness. I mean, do we need to know how many people viewed the thread ? No. Do we need to know when someone last posted in the thread ? No. To me, these changes are purely cosmetic, and the forum doesn't require them. I admit, I like the new "Select Forum" menu, but I hate the topic/thread menu, and pretty much the rest of it.

As Bargib said, it's the community that matters, not the forum look, but that's the only reason I'm coming back when the new forums appear, not because of their new sickly "pretty look" ..........
