Neo - As I said before, wait and see how it turns out. THEN you can start worrying .

Neo, Bargib has already put up a link to the test forum that shows its layout and appearance, and it looks flippin awesome and tidy compared to the present. So don't post links of what you think it might be like, take a look at what it WILL BE LIKE!!

I like the look of the current forums more, but the pm idea is nice and avatars can be interesting. But I guess you can get used to the new look

Edit: I played around a bit on the new forums, it's q cool, but i still like the current look better

TLR is different people. if we go through with the new layout.. it'll be just any other modern forum.

something unique, even if old. i like the present much better.
in the new forums, i'll forget to log in and feel like an outsider when i find out i can't post.

i'm member of other forums, and when i go there its like any other forum of today, created by the webspace providers. when i go to TLR it'll look the same as any other sad forum on the web. i don't want that

i appreciate the work that gibby and eraser and others are putting in but its just so.. so much like any other forum. that puts me off.

if anyone wants to know the details, its the main forum front, below you have icons explaining the things and all, like any other forum. then its how different forums are organised into sections like in boxes.. like any other forum.

the pm too. maybe its a good idea, but its sooo taken. i like the present devoted IRC chatroom better - even though i never go on.

i'd continue but dinner calls .

mind, these are all my opinions. i do like the better profile management though, showing how many % each member contributes to the total post count.

I've seen the new forum. It is different, but a nice differnt. I can addapt, and as Bargib has explained, it helps fix problems with this forum and adds new features. I look forward to it.

Went and looked at the profile page. It gives the oportunity to hadd a lot of info if you want to tell people mofre about you. Cool!

Hmm .. sometimes it good to changes .. and as Bargib says .. its based on newer code. So that would mean that we can do much more.

Nice job Bargib and Eraser.

Must admit, a facelift would be better. However, the overall site is being upgraded in style, not JUST the forums. The whole place will look nicer, cleaner and neater. The old forum style just wouldn't look right, and although some might miss features, others are bonuses. IM's woudl fill the void of having bogus email addies in your names, so you can contact peopel easier and more privately.

However, thats my opinion, and some of ya will be glad to know that i have no hand in the design/look etc of the website, so what i say isn't reflecting what Bargib says/thinks/does etc

and one of the problems it will fix is my little *cough* mistake..........

I think TLR Fourms are "old style" fourms, and I know where I am as soon as I see the layout. When the new forums are introduced, I'll have to check the TLR logo to see where I am

"old style"........i think "old skool" sounds better

Do you actually pay attention in english wolfy ?

Post Tue Jun 15, 2004 3:30 am

in a perverse way I actually want it all to be changed so that i can then spend weeks/months complaining about how much I liked it before..

ROFL!

Guys - as we hope things will progress with the Lancer universe, I hope that we will continue living and progressing...

And what features are you missing in the new, that you have in the old?!?!?!?

I think that the CURRENT TLR forums are like an old village english pub, where everyone knows who everone is. Every so often an Idiot ( Read : Spammer ) comes along, but gets kicked out, and life goes on .... I liken the new forums to a new-techno pub in the city, which in which all the warmthness of the old pub is gone, and all the old members are surrounded by strangers, which of most (or all ) we don't know. It loses it's feeling of warmthness, and is replaced by a feeling of ... coldness .... in which everyone is judged by what ranking he wears ( Read : The new forum rank decorations ), and all of the old will eventually leave for peace and quiet somewhere else. Also :

Nice Looking forums bring new members .....
New members bring spammers tagging along .....
Spammers make the forum crap because of all the spam .....
TLR Forums are shut down ........

Ho well, as the saying goes " Progess in the world or Die " ....
