Beams

Is the Freelancer engine Beam-capable? If not, your going to have one hell of a problem as almost every major Capship in B5 uses beams...

Starlancer didn't support beamweapons and we had a way figured out how to do it, and we'll figure a way out how to do them in FL, even if it's not natively supported by the engine...

i remember reading in the editing forum that beam weapons can be done.
something about turning the refire rate way up, shot velocity to 'instant' , and the individual shot dmg way down. the trick will be finding out which projectiles will give realistic beam effects

Yes, but if everyone were doing this, dont u think it would lag the server down? There's got to be a better way.

there are files in the effects folder with "beam" in it's names, so it might be possible to do them without tricks

like a real laser-beam, not a projectile, as weapon...

Beam weapons own! I made them into my mod. They work fine and don't lag. Just look at cheesemod, in weaponequip and beam_effects.
