Babylon 5 is one of the best Sci-Fi series out there because of many, many different elements. One of the major reasons still being the fact, that it has a 5-year storyline, which it sticks too. The lack of the "big-red-reset-button" which Star Trek uses all to often also contributes to its success

B5 has a semi-realistic space combat, the best looking (will not say coolest...) ships and plenty of actual combat. There is a lot more, but since this a space-sim mod, I figure these are the most important bits for us.

what you forgot: it has some very surprising twists, doesn't stick to the rules of normal (sci-fi)TV that nothing ever happens to the main characters (in the course of it's running, at least 3 of the main characters (shown in the opening credits) were replaced, at least 2 were killed, and some underwent major changes (look at G'Kar or Londo in the first and the last season). This sense of "everything can happen" made it feel much more real imho. (and i still have to see something more exciting than a fleet of whitestars taking out a vorlon outpost )

do not i repeat do NOT compare star trek with B5. Absolutley NO competition there there. B5 is better by a very long shot.

Actually B5 is one of the greatest long running tv epics ever made.
applying a b5 mod to freelancer is actually an ingenuius idea. being they have jumpgates and such that are simular.

my 2 fav b5 characters are Londo and G`Kar. they really started out as blood enemies only to end up having a very strange freindship.

I will defenately be looking forward to this mod's work in progress.
