The American Knight

Universal Production Partners (UPP) are mentioning something about an upcoming movie of Chris Roberts, called The American Knight.

UPP for instance did the major part of effect shots for The Talented Mr. Ripley and are now working on several other project, which The American Knight is one of.

The American Knight is a story about a pilot from the First World War. UPP worked on the adjustments of experimental shots scanned in London. The film material was digitalized on a Kodak Cineon device and after processing recorded again onto film.

cool, film to watch out for then. You have to love the first fighter planes, nothing but wood, glue/nails with a machine gun strapped to it!!! The first guns stuck on infront of the pilot used to shoot the propellers off

Thus the first bug was found!!! The best part was the original bombers, some bloke with a few grenades

Forget machine guns. The earliest use of aircraft in warfare was nothing but recon. Pilots from opposing sides would just wave cordially at each other whenever they met.

then they started to shoot with handguns and lob hand grenades at ground targets. It was hilarious when you compare it to later generations flights

I'll look out for the film. I like WWI aircraft, but my fav era is WWII, my fav Fighter the Supermarine Spitfire.

The thing about the guns shooting of the Props, was fixed by setting the guns to fire inbetween the blades

True, they also armoured the props. at one point to deflect any stray bullets!!!!
No parachutes back then though

Always thought it would be funny to have a harrier back then

My fav was the FW-109, a german plane with heavy armor and heavy fire power to boot. They where the main fighters of the Luftwaffe when germany ruled the skies. If it wasn't for the oil shortage germany faced D-Day could have never happened or succeeded

The Spitfire Mk XI was more than a matched for the 190

The 109 was good but had limited vis. for the pilot when compared to the spitfire and hurricane. The hurri took out more 109's in the Battle of Britain but then there were more hurri's than spits.
The 190 re-astablished superiority briefly before spits were upgraded. My fav. has always been the spits. cause I find them graceful, majestic and deadly

As for D-Day, I think that if Germany hadn't taken on the Soviet Union (Thus spreading their forces too thin) it wouldn't have happened. Amazing how aircraft developed in so short a time.

The Spitfire Mk V was out-classed by the 190, but when the Mk IX came out, the 190 Pilots Rushed them, thinking they were Mk Vs and got a supprise when they engaged them.
